"I voted against raising the debt limit because it's time to balance the budget and pay down the debt. I mean it and you can believe it"
Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann launched her third television ad Wednesday in Iowa, touting her vote against an increase in the debt ceiling.
"Barack Obama has driven our economy into a ditch. Someone needs to say 'no.'" Bachmann said in the spot. "I voted against raising the debt limit because it's time to balance the budget and pay down the debt. I mean it and you can believe it."
In her first ad in Iowa, the Minnesota representative pledged to vote against legislation that raised the U.S. borrowing limit. The new spot is a continuation of that campaign message.
Bachmann also asked Iowans to turn out to the high stakes Ames Straw Poll in the first-in-the-nation caucus state. The August 13 event is an early test of strength for campaigns that have their sights set on the caucuses.
"Won't you join me here in Ames for the Straw Poll, and let's send a message to Washington," Bachmann said in the spot that will air across the state, according to the campaign. Team Bachmann did not release other details about the size of the ad buy
