Ted Cruz: Those Doctors That Are Opposing a Travel Ban Are Working For the Administration and Repeating WH Talking Points

Cruz on CNN SOTU says 'the arguments they're giving don't make sense'

Public health officials are using White House talking points in trying to calm fears over a potential Ebola outbreak in the United States, says Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

Like many of his fellow Republicans and a growing number of Democrats, Cruz wants a travel ban imposed on people leaving three West African countries currently dealing with Ebola outbreaks.

"The Obama White House is digging in not listening to the voices of common sense coming from both sides of the aisle," Cruz said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, argues that a travel ban would only hurt the effort because the United States would lose track of who is flying into the United States. And people might even try to sneak across U.S. border with Mexico to get in (via Newsmax)

Video- Russian Cargo Ship With 450 Tons of Fuel Adrift off Canada Coast

Canadian and US coast guards have been struggling to tow a 135-meter Russian cargo ship after it lost power in gale force wind conditions. As 450 tons of bunker oil and diesel were on board the ship, the situation prompted fears of an ecological disaster.

Cargo ship Simushir went adrift on Thursday off the West coast of Haida Gwaii, located near British Columbia. The vessel left Everett, Washington and was bound to Russia.

As the ship became incapacitated amid the storm, its plight raised an alarm in the regional media, as 400 tons of oil and about 50 tons of diesel fuel it was carrying were deemed enough for an environmental catastrophe, in case the vessel ran aground.

The crew fruitlessly attempted to restart the engine. The captain was injured and was later evacuated by helicopter.

New Kentucky Senate Poll: Mitch McConnell 52%, Alison Grimes 44%

Alternate headline: Alison Lundergan Grimes implodes

McConnell passes the 50% mark...

Among the 84% of Kentucky voters who say they will definitely vote in this election, McConnell leads 53% to 44%.  She's done.  It doesn't matter what her 'internal' polls are saying.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has crossed the 50% mark now in his bid for reelection in Kentucky.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Kentucky Voters finds McConnell with 52% support to Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes’ 44%. Two percent (2%) prefer another candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) are undecided.

The incumbent led 46% to 41% in September and was ahead 48% to 41% in late May.

Kentucky remains Leans Republican in the Rasmussen Reports’ 2014 Senate Balance of Power rankings. Democrats have had high hopes all year that Grimes, Kentucky’s current secretary of State, could unseat McConnell who has been a member of the Senate since 1985. He’s been the Senate Republican leader since 2007.

Seventy-six percent (76%) of Kentucky voters say they have already made up their minds how they are going to vote, and McConnell leads 55% to 45% among these voters. Among the 24% who still could change their minds, the candidates are tied at 41% apiece, with 17% opting for a third-party candidate or undecided.

Judicial Watch: Obama Plans to Let Ebola-infected Foreigners Into U.S. for Treatment

Not only are we not going to shut down air travel into the U.S. from West Africa, hey, let's bring those stricken with Ebola into the United States for treatment to show them how much we want to help.
Good God.

judicial watch  reported:
Washington, DC – Judicial Watch has learned that the Obama administration is actively formulating plans to admit Ebola-infected non-U.S. citizens into the United States for treatment. Specifically, the goal of the administration is to bring Ebola patients into the United States for treatment within the first days of diagnosis.

It is unclear who would bear the high costs of transporting and treating non-citizen Ebola patients. The plans include special waivers of laws and regulations that ban the admission of non-citizens with a communicable disease as dangerous as Ebola.

One source tells us that the Obama administration is keeping this plan secret from Congress. The source is concerned that the proposal is illegal; endangers the public health and welfare; and should require the approval of Congress.

Poll: Voters Say Obama Waited Too Long to Act Against ISIS

By a 57-34 percent margin, voters say Obama 'waited too long' to take action against ISIS, the JV Team.

Obama approval on ISIS: 33%

The poll also shows that Americans consider ISIS a much bigger threat than Ebola.

Fox News

With ISIS now moving on Baghdad, majorities of U.S. voters think President Obama “waited too long to take action” against the extremists, and disapprove of the way he’s dealing with the group, according to the latest Fox News national poll.

That’s almost identical to the negative rating the president receives for his handling of the Islamic extremist group: 57 percent disapprove vs. 33 percent approve.

A majority of Democrats approve of Obama on ISIS (56 percent), while larger majorities of independents (65 percent) and Republicans (81 percent) disapprove.

Nearly four in 10 Democrats think Obama waited too long to act on ISIS (39 percent), and a large 80-percent majority of Republicans and 58 percent of independents agree.

ISIS or Ebola?

Which poses a greater threat to Americans? 50% say ISIS, while 27 percent think it is Ebola. Another 18 percent say it’s the same.

Video- Citizen Pulls Over an Unmarked Cop Car and Tells the Police Officer He’s Breaking the Law

When the police see someone driving around breaking the law, it’s their job to stop them.

But upholding laws on the road isn’t a one-way street.

Gavin Seim turned the tables on a Washington state police officer in a video posted to YouTube last week, stopping the officer as the cop was driving an unmarked vehicle.

“Hey the reason I stopped you is I saw this car was unmarked,” Seim asks the officer. “Is this a registered unmarked vehicle for undercover work?”

When the officer said it was a patrol car, Seim whipped out his legal knowledge.

“OK, you’re not allowed to have patrol cars that are unmarked, are you aware of that?

This is an awesome video. "Citizen Pull Over Cop, Gives Warning"

Poll: Public Confidence in the CDC Plummets to 37%

One year ago, the number was 60%

CBS News
Americans' faith in the agency charged with protecting the homeland from the rapidly escalating Ebola outbreak in West Africa -- which has already crept onto U.S. soil -- has dropped sharply since the crisis emerged.

A CBS News Poll has found that positive assessment of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has declined dramatically, with only 37 percent of respondents saying the CDC is doing an excellent or good job -- down from 60 percent in a May 2013 Gallup poll.

The CDC is rated more positively by Democrats (49 percent) than Republicans (35 percent).

Officials from the Obama administration, including the president himself, have acknowledged that missteps were made in the handling of the first confirmed Ebola case diagnosed inside the U.S; a Liberian man who died in a Dallas hospital on Oct. 8.

Newt: If Ebola Gets Out of Control, It's Going to Kill Millions Worldwide

'We have not come to grips with how big a problem Ebola is going to be and how dangerous to all of us it's going to be if it breaks loose' -Gingrich

Newt makes a very good point during his interview on today's Sean Hannity radio show. That if you have an outbreak and it gets into a large city that doesn't have good public health systems, for example Mexico City -population 18m, or Calcutta -population 12M - this will spread like wildfire because there's not the hospital and medical infrastructure to contain it.
