Warrior 100K
CRAWFORD Fourteen soldiers who were seriously wounded while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan were treated to a special weekend with former President George W. Bush.
From Thursday through Saturday, wounded veterans will participate in the third annual Warrior 100k, a 100-kilometer mountain bike ride, a Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative event. Bush’s initiative has two programs, “Team 43 Sports” which encompasses the W100k and the Warrior Open, a competitive golf tournament, as well as the “Circles of Excellence” which brings experts together from various institutions to brainstorm new programs for veterans.
This weekend's event highlights the bravery and sacrifice of military personnel and also recognizes veterans’ organizations. Participating warriors come from a variety of ranks from all across the nation. Three reside in Texas. “The Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge,” “Team 4MIL,” and the “Navy SEAL Foundation” are three veterans' organizations that will be recognized. The ride will run over the course of three days at the Bush’s Prairie Chapel Ranch
