Mexico Judge Orders Immediate Release of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi

'Humanitarian grounds'

LA Times reported:
A Mexican judge on Friday ordered the immediate release of a Marine held behind bars since April 1 on weapons charges..

Lawyers for Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, 25, a reservist who served two deployments to Afghanistan, had argued that his arrest at the San Ysidro border was improper and that he needs immediate treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder from his combat experiences.

The judge said in the order that the case was dismissed and that Tahmooressi was granted "absolute freedom." He ordered the release on humanitarian grounds without making a decision on Tahmooressi's guilt or innocence.

“It is with an overwhelming and humbling feeling of relief that we confirm that Andrew was released today after spending 214 days in a Mexican prison," Tahmooressi's family said in a statement.

The order issued late Friday said his release would allow him to receive treatment for PTSD. A court-appointed psychiatrist had urged the judge to end the case so that Tahmooressi could return to the U.S. and receive treatment.

Canada Bans Travelers From Ebola Hot-Zone

Canada will not process visa applications from foreign nationals who have been in Ebola-affected countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone within the previous three months.

Last week, Australia banned travel from these same 3 West African countries

reuters  reported:
Canada will stop issuing visas to people from the three West African nations where Ebola is widespread, the government said on Friday.

The federal citizenship ministry, explaining the move, said in an official document that "the introduction or spread of the disease would pose an imminent and severe risk to public health".

About 5,000 people have died in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone this year in the worst Ebola outbreak on record. Fears rose that the disease could spread beyond the region after a few cases were diagnosed in Spain and the United States.

Canada, which has not reported any cases of Ebola, is following in the footsteps of Australia, which on Tuesday became the first rich nation to issue such a ban. The country's official in charge of the response to Ebola said the move was medically unjustified

DHS Employees Put $30K Worth of Starbucks on Gov't Credit Cards

Government credit cards were also used for movie tickets and gym memberships

Federal employees issued so-called purchase cards are permitted to spend up to $3,000 — known as “micropurchases” — and do not have to disclose those purchases publicly.

A House Oversight subcommittee held a congressional hearing earlier this month on misuses of the government credit card, asking why federal employees were swiping the card for seemingly personal things like hair cuts, gym memberships and movie tickets.

Scott MacFarlane, investigative reporter at NBC-4 Washington, discovered through Freedom of Information Act requests, that Department of Homeland Security employees put $30,000 of Starbucks on the cards in 2013. Agency employees spent about $12,000 at one Starbucks in Alameda, Calif., and several of those purchases were for just under the $3,000 “micropurchase” threshold, which means they can avoid scrutiny.

“I don’t know the agency’s needs or contingencies, but going to Starbucks seems like a really hard sell,” former Inspector General for the U.S. General Services Administration Brian Miller told MacFarlane in an interview.

New Wendy Davis Radio Ad Claims Republican Opponent Greg Abbott Doesn't Want Blacks To Vote

Mind-boggling. First- make an attack ad using Greg Abbott's wheelchair in the video. Follow it up with a radio ad saying Greg Abbott doesn't want blacks to vote. Once again, this is the Democrat party using their playbook when they're way behind late in the 4th Quarter.

I hope she gets defeated by 20 points on election night Tuesday.

First Wendy Davis claimed her wheelchair-bound opponent Greg Abbott doesn't like the disabled. Then she claimed that Abbott, whose wife is Mexican-American, would support a state ban on interracial marriage.

Now she’s claiming he doesn’t want African-Americans to vote.

In a new radio ad paid for by the Davis campaign, a man calls Abbott “bad news” and accuses the Republican attorney general of trying to “overturn the Voting Rights Act.”

“Take a guess about who Abbott doesn’t want to vote,” the man adds.

Ooh, ooh, I know! It’s anyone that’s not a white man, right?

Abbott challenged one part of the 1965 law — the part that deemed Texas a racist state and gave the federal government the power to preemptively review and strike down any change to the state’s redistricting maps and election laws.

Maine Health Officials Obtain Court Order Restricting Ebola Nurse Kaci Hickox's Movement

Let's see her violate the court order

FORT KENT, Maine (AP) — Maine health officials obtained a 24-hour court order restricting Kaci Hickox's movement after the nurse repeatedly defied the state's quarantine for medical workers who have treated Ebola patients.

A judge granted the order Thursday limiting Hickox's travel, requiring a three-foot buffer if she encounters people, and banning her from public places until there's a further decision Friday.

The state went to court Thursday, following through with a threat to try to impose restrictions on her until the 21-day incubation period for Ebola ends on Nov. 10. In court documents, the judge indicated further action was anticipated Friday.

Police were under orders to monitor the movements of the nurse who twice left home, once to talk to reporters Wednesday and again for a bike ride with her boyfriend on Thursday.

A state police cruiser remained outside her home Friday. Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier went inside the home briefly Friday morning and said afterward, "We just had a good conversation." He said he was not there to arrest or detain her.

**UPDATE** Judge rejects state’s quarantine order
Maine officials cannot force a quarantine on a nurse who treated West African Ebola patients, a Maine judge ruled Friday.

District Court Judge Charles C. LaVerdiere rejected a court order drawn up by Maine health officials that would have required nurse Kaci Hickox to avoid public places and keep a three-foot buffer with other people until Nov. 10, when a 21-day incubation period for the virus will end.

CNBC's Joe Kernen to Ted Cruz: 'Could You Win in 2016?'

Cruz: Well, if we don't nominate a conservative, Hillary Clinton will be the next president

Ted Cruz said in a CNBC interview Thursday that the only way for his party to win back the White House is to nominate a conservative in 2016, or else Hillary Clinton will win.

“We need to learn from history,” Cruz said on Squawk Box. “One thing is clear. If Republicans run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole or a John McCain or a Mitt Romney, all 3 aree good and honorable men … we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day.  If we run another candidate like that, Hillary Clinton will be the next president"

Krauthammer: Obama Won't Apologize For 'Chickens**t' Comment Because He Supports it

"Everybody knows it’s how the president thinks about the Israeli leadership"
Charles talks about Israeli/U.S. relations at the 2:30 mark

KRAUTHAMMER: There is no doubt that what we saw is an accurate reflection of what they think. That’s the reason they won’t offer an apology. Everybody knows it’s how the president thinks about the Israeli leadership under Likud, under Bibi.

So we know that there's sort of veracity underlying it. You're not supposed to say it. You're supposed to deny it when of course it becomes published. But this is the tension between them. This is the worst of the relations between administrations, Israeli and American probably in 50 years …

Mary Landrieu Blames Obama Disapproval in South on Racism (Video)

Nope. Nothing to do with his policies. It's about race.

This Hail Mary is going to fall incomplete on election day this coming Tuesday.

Either this is Landrieu’s attempt to gin up black voter turnout and to generate women voters to support her, or this is an off-the-cuff gaffe. I think it is a big gaffe either way. The Louisiana Senator, who is a woman and has been elected three times, is calling her own constituents racist and sexist. Louisiana voters ought to turn out and throw her out of office by such a large margin it will make her head spin

Landrieu's Republican opponent Bill Cassidy responded last night on Fox News Kelly File-
He blasts Landrieu for bring race into debate in the final days of the campaign-

Video- Hillary Event For Maryland Democrat Shows Sections of Empty Seats

(Screen grab)

This is today at a rally for Maryland gubernatorial candidate Anthony Brown.

The event, held inside Ritchie Coliseum shows sections of empty seats on one side. On the opposite side, a good chuck of the seats (40 of them, I counted) are taken up by the high school band that was invited for some reason (probably to fill seats). Above the band are more empty seats.
