VIDEO- Kerry To Protesters at Senate Hearing: 'Code Pink Ought to Care About Fighting ISIL'...'Because ISIL is Killing and Raping and Mutilating Women'

Secretary of State Kerry directly addresses Code Pink during his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today.

Why these protesters are allowed to hold signs, in the camera shot, throughout the entire hearing- I have no idea.
Watch the video-

Code Pink was started by a woman and women who were opposed to war but who also thought the government’s job was to take care of people and to give them healthcare and education and good jobs. And if that’s what you believe in, and I believe it is, then you ought to care about fighting ISIL because ISIL is killing and raping and mutilating women and they believe women shouldn’t have an education.”

Pelosi at Press Briefing: NO TROOPS on the Ground in Iraq (Video)

First question is from a reporter who asks Pelosi about General Martin Dempsey's comments yesterday before the Senate Armed Service Committee hearing where he said the situation may call for U.S. combat troops on the ground, fighting alongside Iraqi troops against the Islamic State.

Pelosi says no way.

U.S. Man Tried to Swim to North Korea 'To Meet Kim Jong Un'

He was arrested by South Korean border guards

The man is a 29-year-old computer repairman from Texas

ABC News
South Korean border guards arrested an American man who they believe was attempting to swim across a river to rival North Korea, a South Korean defense official said Wednesday.

The man was apprehended Tuesday night while lying on a bank of the Han River in a restricted military area near the border, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to office policy.

The man told investigators that he tried to go to North Korea to meet leader Kim Jong Un, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported, citing an unidentified government source. It said the man, aged around 29, is a computer repairman from Texas who came to South Korea 10 days ago.

South Korea's Defense Ministry and the National Intelligence Service said they couldn't confirm the report.

Americans are occasionally arrested after entering North Korea illegally from China, but a U.S. citizen trying to get in from South Korea is unusual.

McConnell Fires Back at Skeet-Shooting Ad: Alison Grimes Supported Gun Control

Team McConnell again links Alison Lundergan Grimes to Obama.
This is one of the best responses to an attack ad I've seen.

One day after candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes flaunted her skeet-shooting skills in a new political ad, Sen. Mitch McConnell's campaign pushed back, saying Grimes is a lot more like President Barack Obama than the Democrat tries to portray.
"Alison Grimes thinks shooting a gun will convince you she's not like Barack Obama," the narrator says in the new spot, showing footage of Grimes' ad. "But Grimes twice supported Obama's platform for Obamacare, for the war on coal, for Obama's foreign policy and, ironically, for gun control."
The spot then shows a photo released by the White House early last year of Obama skeet shooting at Camp David.

The narrator continues, "You know who also did a publicity stunt firing a gun?"

Ohio: John Kasich Ahead By 30 Points in New Columbus Dispatch Poll

Kasich only defeated Democrat Incumbent Gov. Ted Strickland by 2 points in 2010 in what was a good year for Republicans. 4 years later, he's pulling away. An earlier Rasmussen poll had the lead at 20, now the spread is 30

Kasich 59, Fitzgerald 29

With Ohio Democratic voters apparently sitting on their hands this election, the party could be headed for an epic defeat in the governor’s race.

Republican Gov. John Kasich leads Democratic challenger Ed FitzGerald by a 2-to-1 ratio, the first Dispatch Poll of the 2014 election shows. Kasich is favored 59 percent to 29 percent.

In a state where Democratic voters outnumbered Republicans by several percentage points just two years ago, the current percentage of GOP voters who say they will cast a 2014 ballot is 8 points higher than for Democrats.

The FitzGerald campaign acknowledged the problem in a fund-raising plea on Friday that began, “I know you may be thinking about sitting this election out.”

Meanwhile, Kasich campaigned in central Ohio last week asking not just for a victory but for a “ mandate” that the rest of the country would notice.

WATCH- New Islamic State Video Threatens To Target White House

Video is the trailer for a film entitled 'Flames of War' with strapline 'fighting has just begun'

The only words on the 52-second clip are those of President Obama making the pledge, "American combat troops will not be returning to fight in Iraq"

Islamic State militants have threatened to target the White House and kill US troops in a new slickly-made video response to Barack Obama's campaign to "degrade and destroy" the organization.

The video, in the style of a blockbuster movie trailer for what is "coming soon", depicts a masked man apparently about to shoot kneeling prisoners in the head. Towards the end of the clip there is shaky footage of the White House filmed from a moving vehicle, suggesting the building is being scoped out for attack.
Video screen grab - White House
It was released on Tuesday after US defence chiefs suggested that US troops could join Iraqi forces fighting Isis, despite Obama's assurance that US soldiers would not be engaged in fighting on the ground.

The video was released by the al-Hayat Media Centre, Isis's English-language propaganda arm. It includes the now familiar high-production hallmarks of an Isis video, including super-slow motion footage of jihadis in combat, jump-cutting, and CGI explosions.

PHOTO- Ebola Survivor Kent Brantly Meets With President Obama in the Oval Office

(White House photo Pete Souza)

This is a photo of President Obama meeting with Ebola survivor Kent Brantly in the Oval Office.

It may seem like a nondescript and fairly routine presidential meeting, but it was intended to send a strong message: That Brantly is completely Ebola-free, and that it is safe to interact with survivors of the deadly virus.

There is still plenty of concern and hysteria surrounding the treatment of American patients with Ebola at U.S. facilities. Brantly is just one of four people who have been or currently are being treated at U.S. hospitals; as a survivor, he is now free of the virus and immune to the strain of Ebola that's currently ravaging several countries in West Africa.

That Obama is willing to sit in a room with Brantly demonstrates that the leader of the free world believes those concerns have no basis.

2 Chicago Schools Renamed To Honor The Obamas

Two new names in Chicagoland-
'The Michelle Obama School of Technology'
And...(Try not to laugh) 'The Barack Obama School of Leadership'

Two schools in the Park Forest-Chicago Heights district, grades fourth through eight, are getting new names to honor the president and first lady.

According to the Southland Star, a publication of the Chicago Sun-Times, at the start of the school year the district went through a realignment. Part of that move included renaming two schools after President Obama and Michelle Obama.

Beacon Hill was changed to the Barack Obama School of Leadership and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Forest Trail is now the Michelle Obama School of Technology and the Arts.

A district release explains:

"The Obama name was selected for the two schools because the values that the First Family models are unparalleled precedents and are values that our students strive to emulate. I believe we are the first schools in the nation to honor the First Family in this manner"
The Star reports:
"The Barack Obama school, the district said, will promote the national objectives of improved education in science, technology, engineering and math through learning engagements that focus on student interests. The Michelle Obama school will focus on technology and the arts with an enhanced curriculum that focuses on theater, show choir and visual arts, according to the district"
