Secret Service Threatened To Shoot Mr. Met If He Got Close To President Clinton -Book

"We have snipers all around the stadium, just in case something were to happen. Do whatever it is you normally do. But approach the President, and we go for the kill shot. Are we clear?”

AJ Mass, who was Mr. Met for 3 years,  recounted the incident in his new book

nydailynews reported:
A Secret Service agent threatened to put some high heat in the Mets mascot’s oversized dome if he ventured too close to former President Bill Clinton during a 1997 game at Shea Stadium.

“We have snipers all around the stadium, just in case something were to happen,” the agent warned. “Like I said, do whatever it is you normally do. But approach the President, and we go for the kill shot. Are we clear?”

AJ Mass, the man inside the Mr. Met outfit from 1994-97, recounted his brush with mortality (and perhaps immortality) in his new memoir “Yes, It’s Hot in Here — Adventures in the Weird, Wooly World of Sports Mascots.”

Approach the President, and we go for the kill shot. Are we clear? “He pauses for a moment to let the words sink in, and it feels like he isn’t only looking into my eyes, but also into my very soul with his blank, unblinking stare,” Mass wrote.

He recalled the agent staring directly into the mouth of his huge faux leather head to deliver the warning that sent chills through all eight of Mr. Met’s fingers.

Mass was angling to get a picture with Clinton in April 1997 — the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s first major league game.

Accompanied by two female college interns, the costumed Mass set off in search of his presidential prey: “The holy grail for all mascots — a photo op and meet and greet with a sitting President,” he wrote.

His hopes were soon crushed by the Secret Service agent sporting a dark suit and a darker mood. Mass recalled the agent started eyeballing him after Mr. Met’s head failed to fit through an on-field metal detector.

Florida Governor Rick Scott Dismisses Charlie Crist’s Challenge As “Laughable” (Video)

The gloves have officially come off in the 2014 gubernatorial race between Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist and Florida Governor Rick Scott.

This past Monday, while Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera was speaking to Reporters after Crist’s appearance at the Forum Club of Palm Beach, Crist casually walked up and crashed Lopez-Cantera’s press gaggle, openly challenging Rick Scott by telling reporters “give me Scott.”

Governor Scott is now dismissing Crist’s challenge as “Laughable.”

Rick Scott:
That’s laughable. He has a primary. He still has a primary with Senator Nan Rich. I am sure its going to be enjoyable to watch his debates with Nan Rich, but he still has to get through his primary

Kansas Parents Ask School District to Reconsider Plans to Have Michelle Obama Speak at Graduation

TOPEKA — Some parents in Topeka are asking the school district to reconsider plans to have first lady Michelle Obama speak at a graduation ceremony.

The school district announced Thursday that the first lady would speak at a ceremony May 17, the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education decision that made school segregation unconstitutional.

The speech would require the district to combine graduation ceremonies of all its high schools and limit the number of people who could attend.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports several parents criticized the plan Thursday evening at a school board meeting.

Most objected to having to reduce the number of relatives who could see their children graduate. Others said graduation should focus on students and not become a political event

Poll: 37% of Voters Fear the Federal Government

Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Likely U.S. Voters now fear the federal government, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Forty-seven percent (47%) do not, but another 17% are not sure.

Perhaps in part that’s because 54% consider the federal government today a threat to individual liberty rather than a protector. Just 22% see the government as a protector of individual rights, and that’s down from 30% last November. Slightly more (24%) are now undecided.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on April 15-16, 2014 by Rasmussen Reports

WATCH: Michigan Judge Erupts on Woman Convicted in Killing; 'I Hope You Die In Prison!'

Judge lets her have it...

JACKSON, Mich. (wxyz)  - If a judge could throw the book at a convicted killer, Michigan Judge John McBain managed to do so on Wednesday.

Not physically, but certainly by his stinging words. He had a lot of words for 31-year-old Camia Gamet, the woman convicted of killing her boyfriend Marcel Hill in March. Gamet claimed it was self defense and showed no remorse.

A first-degree murder conviction by law meant she would get life behind bars.

Still, while family members spoke she would only roll her eyes and laugh, but McBain, who serves in the Jackson County Circuit Court, would have none of it. Woman laughs at upset family members and that's when the judge weighs in

"I agree with the family members, I hope you die in prison'...'If this was a death penalty state, you'd be getting the chair"  He also tells her to shut up and threatens to duct tape her mouth

Watch until the end-
