Breaking: Senator Harry Reid Won't Seek Re-Election in 2016

Senator Harry Reid announced this morning that he will retire at the end of his term.

"This accident has caused Landra and me to have a little down time. I have had time to ponder and to think. We've got to be more concerned about the country, the Senate, the state of Nevada than about ourselves. And as a result of that, I'm not going to run for re-election"

Just a few months ago, (in January) Harry Reid said his fall and eye injury would not keep him from seeking reelection

ABC News
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid announced today he will not seek re-election in 2016, ending a Senate career that has spanned three decades.

Known for his feisty and combative style in the Senate, the 75-year-old Nevada Democrat made the announcement in a YouTube video earlier this morning.

Earlier this year, Reid suffered a serious eye injury while exercising at home, causing him to reconsider whether he would seek re-election in 2016.

"This accident has caused Landra and me to have a little down time. I have had time to ponder and to think," Reid said. "We've got to be more concerned about the country"

Reid has led Senate Democrats for the past eight years, first as Senate Majority Leader from 2007 until this year when Republicans took control of the Senate, bumping him to Senate Minority Leader.
Here's Reid's announcing retirement from the senate in a pretty elaborate web video.

Jeb Bush Calls Out Obama's 'Dangerous, Alice in Wonderland' Foreign Policy (VIDEO)

Brian Kilmeade welcomed former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to his "Kilmeade & Friends" show on Fox News Radio this morning.

The possible 2016 presidential candidate discussed at length his opposition to President Obama's "Alice in Wonderland" foreign policy.

In a column earlier this week in National Review, Bush criticized Obama's handling of the Iran nuclear negotiations, saying the president is making a mistake by "trusting our enemies."

On Obama's policies toward Israel and Iran:
"As we've disengaged in his first term of office, now we're seeing the ramifications. The implications of instability are becoming more and more apparent. Americans want their president to keep America's citizens secure. This policy of pulling back, of disengagement, is not the right approach. ... It's an Alice in Wonderland foreign policy. It makes no sense."

On Obama's strained relationship with Netanyahu:
"It does damage to the rest of the region as well. People in the Persian Gulf, Egypt, Jordan, and other places. They look at our relationship being ruptured with Israel and they wonder, well, how can we get a good deal? How are we going to have our voice heard? This instability that comes from not having the back of our strongest ally is quite dangerous."

Government Report: DEA Agents Had Sex Parties With Prostitutes Paid For By Columbian Drug Cartels

You can't make this stuff up.
How many times? Once? Twice? Maybe Three times?

The parties with prostitutes happened 'over a period of several years' according to the DOJ Office of Inspector General

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents partook in wild sex parties with hookers hired by Colombian drug cartels, claims a bombshell report released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General.

The parties, which took place between 2005 and 2008, were held at properties in Colombia paid for by the U.S. government and were ignored by multiple federal agencies, according to the report.

In addition, the report says, several DEA agents were gifted money and weapons from drug cartel members in Colombia.

“The (DEA) foreign officer allegedly arranged ‘sex parties’ with prostitutes funded by the local drug cartels for these DEA agents at their government-leased quarters, over a period of several years,” the report said.

“Although some of the DEA agents participating in these parties denied it, the information in the case file suggested they should have known the prostitutes in attendance were paid with cartel funds,” investigators wrote. “The foreign officers further alleged that in addition to soliciting prostitutes, three DEA SSAs (special agents) in particular were provided money, expensive gifts and weapons from drug cartel members.

During the parties, which reportedly occurred between 2005 and 2008, agents allegedly paid Colombian police officers to provide security and “protection for the DEA agents’ weapons and property,” the report claimed.

Ex-Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. Released From Federal Prison

Jackson is heading to a Baltimore area halfway house

Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was released from an Alabama federal prison early Thursday, two years after pleading guilty to spending $750,000 in campaign money on personal items, his father said.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson described his son's release from the minimum security federal prison camp at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, as a "joyous reunion" and said the younger Jackson was doing "very well."

Jackson, a 50-year-old Illinois Democrat, began his sentence on Nov. 1, 2013. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons lists his release date as Sept. 20, 2015. Former U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy, who visited Jackson on Monday, said Jackson would serve out the remainder of his 2 1/2-year term in a Washington, D.C., halfway house. Jackson must also spend three years on supervised release and complete 500 hours of community service.

ABC News:
It wasn't immediately clear if Jackson, Illinois Democrat and Inmate would live at a halfway house to serve the remainder of his 2 1/2-year term. Another possibility, according to U.S. Bureau of Prison policy, is that he serve out his sentence under home confinement.
