'If I Want, I Will Take Kiev in Two Weeks'

Take a guess who said this-

Yep.  Vladimir Putin warned EU President Jose Barroso in a phone conversation that he could take Kiev in 2 weeks if he wanted to according to a report in Italian Newspaper La Repubblica

International Business Times Reported:
Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a threat to outgoing European Commission President Jose Manual Barroso that he could "take Kiev in two weeks" if he wanted, Italian media reports have said.

According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the Russian leader made the belligerent statement in a phone call with the outgoing EU leader, who is set to be replaced by Luxembourg's former prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker.

Despite the escalating tensions between all parties involved, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has told negotiators in the Belarussian capital of Minsk that an "immediate ceasefire" is Russia's priority.

However, both Ukraine and European Union member states accuse Russia of supporting the rebels fighting Kiev's forces with military supplies and personnel in eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko accused Russia of "direct and open aggression" in the eastern rebel-held cities of Luhansk and Donetsk.

Ukrainian forces have now withdrawn from Luhansk airport in the restive eastern region after firefights with pro-Russian separatists. Ukraine's security council confirmed that the troops had withdrawn "in an organised manner".

American Kenneth Bae, Held in North Korea Talks to CNN, Says He Spends 8 Hours a Day in Hard-Labor Camp (Video)

CNN: Do you have any contact with other Americans or other Koreans?
BAE: "I've been the only prisoner in the camp for the last year and a half"
He tells the CNN reporter (who was given 5 minutes with him) that his situation is very urgent and asks the U.S. government for help

Pyongyang- Kenneth Bae, Matthew Todd Miller and Jeffrey Edward Fowle were presented to CNN's Will Ripley at a Pyongyang hotel Monday.

Each was given five minutes for an interview. All three men said they hope the U.S. government will send an envoy to North Korea to help get them out of their situations, similar to how former President Bill Clinton helped secure the release of two journalists in 2009.

Bae, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence for "hostile acts to bring down its government," said he is working eight hours a day, six days a week at a labor camp. "Right now what I can say to my friends and family is, continue to pray for me," he said. Despite what he called "hard labor," Bae said he has been treated "as humanely as possible."

Miller, who is accused of tearing up his tourist visa and seeking asylum upon entry, implored the U.S. government for help during his interview. He said he wanted to tell the United States that "my situation is very urgent, that very soon I am going to trial, and I would directly be sent to prison." He said he will not learn of his charges until he goes to trial.

Iraqi Prime Minister Vows Iraq Will Be ‘Graveyard’ For ISIS Jihadists

Wouldn't it be great is Obama used the same kind of language against terrorist group ISIS?

Instead we get 'no military solution' and 'we don't have a strategy.'

Sad.

Baghdad (AFP) - Outgoing Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki vowed Monday that Iraq will be a "graveyard" for jihadists as he visited the Shiite town of Amerli after the breaking of an 11-week siege.

"Iraq will be a graveyard for (the Islamic State)," the two-term premier said in televised remarks from the town, referring to the powerful jihadist group.

Iraqi security forces, Shiite militiamen and Kurdish fighters launched a major operation on Saturday to lift the siege of Amerli, a town in Salaheddin province, northeast of Baghdad, where thousands of mainly Shiite Turkmen residents had been trapped.

They broke through and secured the town on Sunday and are now pressing their counteroffensive elsewhere in the area.

Maliki vied for a third term in office but his bid fell apart as security collapsed, with IS-led militants overrunning chunks of five provinces in a sweeping offensive in June.

Video- Rep. Mike Rogers: Obama’s Foreign Policy is in ‘Absolute Free Fall’

Obama doesn't have a strategy because he doesn't want a strategy

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said Sunday that President Obama's comments last week about not having a strategy to defeat the Islamic State show that his foreign policy is "in an absolute free fall."

"If you look at China, you look at ISIS, you look at Russia, you look at Iran and North Korea, we have a serious host of problems presenting itself, and our traditional allies are now standing up and saying, 'Well, maybe America is not the best one to lead us through these troubles,' " Rogers said on "Fox News Sunday," referring to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria militant group, now known as the Islamic State.

Rick Perry's Twitter Account Says D.A. is 'Most Drunk Democrat in Texas'

Tweet was deleted...

AUSTIN, Texas--- A tweet from Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry's verified account on Sunday night included a disparaging image of the Democratic district attorney who is at the center of his criminal indictment on charges of abuse of power. The tweet was later deleted, followed by another from Perry's account that disavowed the post.

"A tweet just went out from my account that was unauthorized. I do not condone the tweet and I have taken it down," the later post said.

Perry aides did not immediately return messages seeking comment. Although the tweets were sent from Perry's verified account, it was unclear who does the actual posting for the feed.

The earlier tweet posted an unflattering mock image of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, who was convicted of drunken driving in April 2013. Perry vetoed funds to her office when she refused to resign, which led to a grand jury in Austin this month indicting Perry - who is a potential 2016 presidential candidate.

Radical Imam on CNN Makes Joke About 9/11 Terror Attack During Sound Check

Reaction from CNN Host Brian Stetler

The Radical cleric was asked to count to 10 for a pre-interview sound check and instead used 1,2,3,4,5, --- 9/11, 7/7, 3/11 (the dates of deadly terror attacks around the globe)

Video below-

Radical Islamic cleric Anjam Choudary appeared Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” and was called out by host Brian Stetler as the interview came to a close for joking about 9/11 during a sound check.

“Here’s what bothers me: when we were setting up for our interview here, the audio engineer asked you to do what every guest does, to count to ten to check the mic, and you started to do that — but then you said 9/11, 7/7, 3/11,” Stetler said. “Is this all some sort of joke to do that?”

In addition to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America, bombs were detonated in London on 7/7/2005, and in Madrid on 3/11/2004.

“You know, if you had a sense of humor, maybe you would have laughed there,” Choudary said. “It was just a soundcheck. You shouldn’t take any of these things that seriously. It’s not a big issue, it’s not a big deal. But if you want to make it a big deal, by all means do so. But it makes you look much more shallow than me.”

Mexican Woman Becomes World's 'Oldest Person'

(Photo: Leandra Becerra Lumbreras)

How old? She was 75 when Kennedy was killed....

'Oldest person who ever lived.'

This is an incredible story.

telegraph
She was 27 when World War One erupted, and nearly 100 when the Berlin Wall came down.

Now Leandra Becerra Lumbreras is celebrating her latest milestone – becoming the oldest person who has ever lived.

According to relatives and friends, the chocolate-loving Mexican marks her 127th birthday today. But there will not be any visits from officials at the Guinness Book of Records – she lost her birth certificate while moving house 40 years ago.

Supposedly born on August 31, 1887 – the year Queen Victoria celebrated her Golden Jubilee – she has attributed her long life to eating well, snacking on chocolate, sleeping for days on end and never getting married, according to her family.

Mexico's El Horizonte newspaper reported that the former seamstress, from the western city of Zapopan, has already seen her five children and several of her grandchildren die.

She apparently has 73 great-grandchildren and 55 great-great-grandchildren.

Granddaughter Miriam Alvear, 43, said: "She was always a woman who fought. She was still sewing and weaving until about two years ago. She never ceased to be active, that's why we think she's lived so long."

"She's always had a good tooth, even at her old age. She has no diabetes or hypertension so can eat as many chocolates and sweets as she likes."

Despite her impressive feat of ageing, Ms Lumbreras is not officially recognized as the world's oldest human.  That title goes to Japan's Misao Okawa, who is 12 years younger

'He's Wrong': Counterterrorism Official Richard Clarke Jabs Obama For Downplaying Terror Threat (Video)

Richard Clarke- 'The threat has increased'

President Obama is “wrong” to downplay the dangers facing the United States, longtime counterterrorism official and ABC News contributor Richard Clarke said in response to the president’s attempts to calm concern over the escalating threat from ISIS and turmoil in the Middle East.

Obama told an audience at a Democratic fundraiser in New York Friday that the “world has always been messy” but added, “I promise you things are much less dangerous now than they were 20 years ago, 25 years ago or 30 years ago.”

Clarke, appearing this morning on “This Week,” said simply, “I think he’s wrong.”

“We’re much more capable of defending ourselves now,” said Clarke, who served under both Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush as the nation’s top counterterrorism official. “We have the Department of Homeland Security, we have a lot of resources going into counterterrorism, but the threat has also increased. And I think the threat has probably increased more than the defenses.”

Speaking of the Islamic terrorist group ISIS, Clarke told ABC News’ Martha Raddatz, “ISIS is highly capable. It has a lot of money. It has people from many, many countries. And our fear is it may have people in its ranks that we don’t know about. We have the names of thousands of people, and we can stop them if they try to get into this country, but if we don’t know their names, and we don’t know they’re involved, they can get in.”

Saudi King Warns Jihadists Could Attack US, Europe Within Months

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia warns that the West will be the next target of the jihadists sweeping through Syria and Iraq, unless there is "rapid" action.

ABC News/AP
The king of Saudi Arabia has warned that extremists could attack Europe and the U.S. if there is not a strong international response to terrorism after the Islamic State group seized a wide territory across Iraq and Syria.

While not mentioning any terrorist groups by name, King Abdullah's statement appeared aimed at drawing Washington and NATO forces into a wider fight against the Islamic State group and its supporters in the region. Saudi Arabia openly backs rebels fighting Syrian President Bashar Assad, but is concerned that the breakaway al-Qaida group could also turn those very same weapons on the kingdom.
"If neglected, I am certain that after a month they will reach Europe and, after another month, America," he said at a reception for foreign ambassadors Friday.
Official Saudi media carried the king's comments early Saturday.

"These terrorists do not know the name of humanity and you have witnessed them severing heads and giving them to children to walk with in the street," the king said, urging the ambassadors to relay his message directly to their heads of state.

The Islamic State group has been fighting moderate rebels, other extremists and Assad's forces in Syria for nearly three years. Iraq has faced an onslaught by the Sunni extremists and their supporters since early this year, and the country continues to be roiled by instability.
