Yep, Brett Favre
JACKSON, Miss. (NFL/AP) -- Brett Favre is a three-time NFL Most Valuable Player and a Super Bowl champion.
Now, he can add one more accomplishment to his storied career -- high school state champion.
Brett Favre helped lead Oak Grove High School to its first Mississippi state championship as the team's offensive coordinator.
Favre is the offensive coordinator for Oak Grove High School, which beat Tupelo 14-7 for the Mississippi 6A state title Friday night. It is Oak Grove's first state title.
A proud Favre roamed the sideline following the victory slapping players on the back and hugging his fellow coaches.
"I can't say it's like a Super Bowl, but it's pretty close," Favre said. "It really is. It's a different type of feeling, but I couldn't be more proud of these guys. It's been a lot of fun."
The 44-year-old Favre has been the offensive coordinator at Oak Grove the past two seasons. The school, which his youngest daughter attends, is close to his home in Hattiesburg.

PICKENS, SC - An Upstate sheriff said in a Facebook post on Friday that he would not lower his flag for Nelson Mandela, even after an executive order from the president.
Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark said in the post that he refused to lower the flag to half-staff after the death of the former South African president, who died on Thursday. Clark continued to say in the Facebook post that it should be lowered at the United States embassy in South Africa.
Clark said in the post, "Nelson Mandela did great things for his country and was a brave man but he was not an AMERICAN!!!"
This comes after President Obama's executive order to have all American flags lowered in remembrance of Mandela.
Clark did say in the post that the department's flag would be at half-staff on Friday for an officer who died in the Lowlands, and it would also be lowered on Saturday for Pearl Harbor Day.
Here is the sheriff's full post: (via Facebook)
I usually don't post political items, but today is different. I received this notification today, "As a mark of respect for the memory of Nelson Mandela, the President orders that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff effective immediately until sunset, December 9, 2013"
Nelson Mandela did great things for his country and was a brave man but he was not an AMERICAN!!! The flag should be lowered at our Embassy in S. Africa, but not here. Our flag is at half staff today for a Deputy in the low country who died going to help his fellow Deputy. He deserves the honor. I have ordered that the flag here at my office back up after tomorrow's mourning of Pearl Harbor Day!
The sheriff here says the flag should be lowered to half-staff for Americans who sacrifice for their country. He also says the support for his decision has been tremendous so far wistv.com - Columbia, South Carolina |
Nice. On tonight's Crossfire panel, it was former Dem Gov. Jennifer Granholm, David Madland from the Center for American Progress vs. Nancy Pfotenhauer who is a Republican strategist. Many will remember her from the 2008 McCain campaign, she was senior policy advisor and campaign spokesman.
They begin discussing today's job numbers and the 203K new jobs created in November. Pfotenhouer fires back at everybody, pointing out that you need to have 150K jobs created every month just to keep up with the population increase. But the most important factor is the labor force participation rate. People are simply giving up on looking for work.
Democrat Rep. Matt Cartwright with an unbelievable statement today on MSNBC. Because President Obama and the Dems in Washington know how to choose your health care plan better than you do, it's a "good thing" for people to lose their coverage. Why? Because your coverage is inadequate! You need preventive care- even if you don't want it. You need maternity care- even if you're a 50 year old woman! They know what's best! Obamacare is the answer. This clown must have missed the most recent Gallup poll that said 69% of Americans were happywith their own health care plan..
Here Congressman Cartwright on MSNBC today. Hopefully the people of Pennsylvania's 17th district will vote this fool out.
Sometimes, it really pays to read the fine print.
United Kingdom resident Peter Clatworthy learned that the hard way recently when he paid £450 (roughly $750) on eBay for what he thought was an Xbox One.
What he received for his money, though, was just a picture of the console.
The auction description, it's worth noting, did say that bidders would receive a photo of the console - but it was still listed in the site's "video games and consoles" section, which led to the confusion. (Some shady eBay sellers pulled this sort of thing during previous console launches, offering just the packaging for their consoles.)
"It said 'photo' and I was in two minds, but I looked at the description and the fact it was in the right category made me think it was genuine," Clatworthy told the Nottingham Post.
"I looked at the seller's feedback and there was nothing negative. I bought it there and then because I thought it was a good deal. It's obvious now I've been conned out of my money."
The 19-year old said he had been saving to get the new system from Microsoft as a surprise Christmas present for his four-year-old son, but apparently was unable to get one at a traditional retailer.
There is a silver lining to the story. Clatworthy paid for the picture using PayPal, which has a guarantee policy. eBay officials told him he would receive a full refund from the seller, as the ad was deemed to be misleading.
"Customers can shop with confidence on eBay as we guarantee you will get your item or your money back," an eBay official said. "Mr Clatworthy is covered by the eBay money-back guarantee and we will be contacting him to put things right."
Ed Henry is probably talking about this poll released by Harvard University saying only 22% of young Americans are 'likely' to enroll in Obamacare. Jay Carney can pretend all he wants that this poll is no biggie but without the young Americans, also called the young healthies signing up, Obamacare will collapse and the administration knows it. Good question today by Fox News Ed Henry
So the unemployment rate falls to 7% and the headlines are we may have 'turned the corner' on the economy. 7% unemployment would be considered a great depression under George W. Bush.
What won't make the Nightly News is- government hired 338K additional workers in November, almost half of the job gains here.
About that 7%. During the 8 years of the Bush (43) Adm. (2001-2009), the unemployment rate was below 6% for 83 or Bush's 96 months in office and that was called a failed economy.
In November 1992, 7.4% unemployment under George H.W. Bush (41) was called 'the worst economy in the last 50 years' and Bush was fired for it by the voters.
