Florida Fishermen Reel in $2.5 Million Bale of Cocaine

Fisherman bring in 25 Kilo bale from the Gulf of Mexico

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - The Okaloosa County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force is investigating the recovery of 25 kilograms of cocaine recovered in area waters south of the Destin East Pass.
According to officials, five local fishermen observed a large bale/package floating in the water, retrieved it from the Gulf and pulled it into their vessel.
They said when the fisherman saw that it contained numerous individually wrapped packages, they contacted law enforcement. State and federal law enforcement officers responded to the scene. The fishermen provided statements and turned the package over to authorities.
The Drug Task Force collected and processed the bale and determined that it contained 25 kilograms of cocaine. Federal and state, air, water and land assets have responded to the scene, and this investigation is continuing. Officials said the street value is $100/gram totaling $2.5 million.
The Drug Task Force is comprised of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Niceville Police Department, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement

60% Believe Syrian Rebels May Be No Better Than Current Government

And it may be worse....

The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center, conducted June 12-16 among 1,512 adults, finds a major factor in overall attitudes about Syria is the impression2 that the U.S. military is already stretched thin. About two-thirds (68%) say the U.S. is too overcommitted to get involved in another conflict, and just 27% disagree. The public also has questions about the opposition groups in Syria: 60% say that they may be no better than the current government.

At the same time, the public does not reject a key argument for involvement in Syria: by a 53%-36% margin, most agree that it is important for the U.S. to support people who oppose authoritarian regimes.

The public is divided over whether the U.S. has a moral obligation to do what it can to stop the violence in Syria: 49% agree, 46% disagree.

President Obama on NSA Spying Programs 'It Is Transparent' [Video]

O: 'Some people say, 'well, you know, Obama was this raving liberal before. Now he's, you know, Dick Cheney'

Obama interview with Charlie Rose

President Obama said that two National Security Agency programs recently revealed through leaked secret documents were “transparent” and, in an interview with PBS’s Charlie Rose on Sunday, he dismissed concerns that the programs were vulnerable to abuse by government officials.

“It is transparent,” Obama said in the interview, broadcast Monday night.

“What I’ve asked the intelligence community to do is see how much of this we can declassify without further compromising the program, No. 1,” Obama said. “And they are in that process of doing so now so that everything that I’m describing to you today, people, the public, newspapers, etc., can look at – because, frankly, if people are making judgments just based on these slides that have been leaked, they’re not getting the complete story.”

Krauthammer: Obama's Syria Policy Worse Than Doing Nothing

Ditto.

"This is a declaration of unseriousness,”

Krauthammer ripped the Obama administration’s Syrian policy on Special Report Monday, saying his weak intervention was worse than doing nothing. Speaking about Obama and Russian president Vladimir Putin’s tense G8 summit meeting about how to resolve the Syrian conflict despite supporting opposing sides, Krauthammer said “it wasn’t a frosty meeting, it was a useless meeting.”

While Russia has a long-vested interest in having influence over Syria and has shown clear, direct support for Bashar al-Assad, Obama’s tepid aid of small arms to the rebels was “marginal” and unlikely to have any influence over the outcome, Krauthammer said.

“It’s exactly the same as when Obama announced the tripling of troops in Afghanistan and in the next sentence announced that we’re leaving. You’re either serious about intervention or you aren’t, and I am against any intervention where you’re not serious.”
