Fox News Reponds to DOJ Targeting of Reporter James Rosen: ‘We Are Outraged'

Fox News executive VP of news Michael Clemente released the following statement to TVNewser with regard to James Rosen being targeted by the Department of Justice.

“We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter. In fact, it is downright chilling. We will unequivocally defend his right to operate as a member of what up until now has always been a free press.”

Clemente’s statement comes as The New Yorker‘s Ryan Lizza uncovers the full warrant application, which makes it seem as though the FBI is interested in investigating Rosen as much as it is interested in investigating Rosen’s source. Chilling indeed.

Megyn Kelly revealed that two other Fox News staffers were targeted for investigation by the DOJ on stories unrelated to Rosen’s.

Michele Bachmann Trails Democrat Jim Graves 47-45

The good news is, the election is a long way off, but right now, Bachmann is trailing the person she defeated in November in a new PPP Poll. She won by 4,200 votes in 2012.

With Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann facing a widening campaign finance probe, her Democratic challenger is out with a new poll showing him in a close race with the conservative firebrand.

The survey, conducted by Public Policy Polling and obtained by POLITICO, shows Democrat Jim Graves leading Bachmann, a four-term congresswoman and former GOP presidential candidate, 47 percent to 45 percent. The results are within the poll’s 4.4 percentage point margin of error.

Bachmann has found herself under growing scrutiny in recent weeks, with the Federal Election Commission and the Office of Congressional Ethics opening investigations into allegations that she paid an Iowa state senator to work for her presidential campaign — a potential violation of the Legislature’s rules. And on Sunday evening, a Minneapolis newspaper reported that the FBI would be joining the investigation.

60 people Killed in Series of Car Bomb Explosions Across Iraq [Video]

Reuters video

More than 60 people were killed in a series of car bomb explosions targeting Shi'ite Muslims across Iraq on Monday, police and medics said, part of the worst sectarian violence since U.S. troops pulled out in December 2011.
The attacks brought the number killed in sectarian clashes in the past week to over 200, and tensions between Shi'ites, who now lead Iraq, and minority Sunni Muslims have reached a point where some fear a return to all-out civil conflict. No group claimed responsibility for the bombings.
Iraq is home to a number of Sunni Islamist insurgent groups, including the al Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq, which has previously targeted Shi'ites in a bid to provoke a wider sectarian confrontation. Nine people were killed in one of two car bomb explosions in Basra, a predominantly Shi'ite city 420 km (260 miles) southeast of Baghdad, police and medics said.

North Korea Launches 2 More Missiles

6 missile launches in 3 days

SEOUL — North Korea fired two short-range missiles Monday, making six launches in three days, and it condemned South Korea for criticizing what it said were its legitimate military drills. South Korea's Defense Ministry said North Korea had fired one missile Monday morning and a second one in the afternoon.

Both were fired into the sea off North Korea's east coast, a ministry official said. The launches come hard on the heels of more than two months of threats from North Korea that it would wage a nuclear war against South Korea and the United States if it were attacked.

The North condemned joint U.S. and South Korean military exercises, that ended in late April, as a rehearsal for an attack on its territory. "We are conducting intense military exercises to strengthen our defense capacity," North Korea's KCNA news agency quoted the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea, the body that handles inter-Korean issues, as saying on Monday.

"Our military is conducting these exercises in order to cope with the mounting war measures from the U.S. and South Korea, which is the legitimate right of any sovereign country."

Wayne Allyn Root on the Bill Cunningham Show: 'I Personally Know 15 People Who Wrote Out Big Checks to Mitt Romney and Within 90 Days Got IRS Audit Notices' [Audio]

This is a must-listen. Wayne Allyn Root, classmate of Obama at Columbia talks to Bill Cunningham on his Sunday Night national program. He tells the story of how he was recently audited twice and gives details of how he believes  it came directly from the top, the WH.  Root,  like a lot of others who have been critical of Obama, especially on a national level, have been targeted no doubt deliberately for political reasons by this administration.

He discusses with Bill how an IRS agent called him on the phone and says the agent knew exactly who he was and that he guest hosted a radio show.

Root then drops another bombshell, telling Cunningham that he personally knows of at least 15 people who wrote big checks to Romney in election 2012 and were audited within 90 days

McConnell: 'There is An Obvious Culture of Intimidation Against Critics of the Administration' [Video]

Always has been.

yahoo news
Republican Senators Rand Paul, Mitch McConnell and Rob Portman continued Sunday to press the Obama administration on the Internal Revenue Service scandal that's engulfed the White House.

On CNN's "State of the Union," Paul told Candy Crowley he heard about a "written policy" that encouraged IRS officials to target "those who are critical of the president."

"And when that comes forward, we need to know who wrote the policy and who approved the policy," Paul said.

"Well, we keep hearing the reports and we have several specifically worded items saying who was being targeted," Paul said. "I don't know if that comes from a policy, but that's what's being reported in the press and reported orally. I haven't seen a policy statement, but I think we need to see that."
Memo or no memo,

McConnell said it's clear that political bullying is being cultivated by the Obama White House.

"There is a culture of intimidation throughout the administration," McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader, said on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday. "The nanny state is here to tell us all what to do and if you start criticizing, you get targeted."

National Anthem FAIL [Video]

Oh my. I thought it was maybe gonna be a couple of words and she would get back on track. This thing is butchered severely. You think it's over and it keeps on going. This is last night's Memorial Cup between Portland and Halifax. Get ready

Jazz singer Alexis Normand garnered a penalty before a Saturday hockey game in Canada after slashing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” SI.com reports. Normand delivered an unforgettable version of America’s national anthem during a Memorial Cup round-robin game between the Halifax Mooseheads and the Portland Winterhawks in Saskatoon.

According to SI.com, Normand made it through the first few lines of the national anthem, but botched the line, “twilight’s last gleaming” with “twilight’s first gleaming.”

As Norman lapsed into a Hall of Fame meltdown, she mixed in various phrases at random, as well as mumbles and hums in an attempt to fill in the gaps. While some – including the players -- seemed amused, the crowd skated to the rescue, singing the words in an attempt to get Normand back on track.
