New Arizona Poll: McCain Leads Dem Opponent By 16 Points


There have been many headlines saying McCain was in trouble in Arizona in his race for reelection. A PPP poll in May showed McCain with only a 2 point lead,  but the latest poll today from Emerson now has McCain leading Dem Congresswoman  Ann Kirkpatrick by 16 points, this comes after a NBC/WSJ Marist poll had him leading by 19.

He is pulling away from the Democrat

Senator John McCain has a 52 percent to 36 percent lead over challenger U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., in a new poll by Emerson College.

The Emerson poll surveyed 600 Arizona voters. The 16-point in the Emerson polls follows up two other surveys showing McCain with the edge.

A NBC-Wall Street Journal-Marist College poll has McCain leading 57 percent to 38 percent.

A CNN-ORC International poll gives the Republican senator a 52 percent to 39 percent lead over the Democratic congresswoman from Flagstaff.

McCain has backing of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Arizona Commerce & Industry.
