That’s essentially what Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas had to say about Obama on Wednesday following the president’s remarks criticizing efforts in Congress to keep Syrian Muslims from emigrating to the United States.

Here’s what the president said at a news conference during his visit to the Philippines:
When individuals say that we should have a religious test and that only Christians — proven Christians — should be admitted — that’s offensive and contrary to American values.

I cannot think of a more potent recruitment tool for ISIL than some of the rhetoric that’s been coming out of here during the course of this debate.
Obama didn’t single out Cruz, who said in an interview Tuesday on ABC News that he wants to let in Syrians who are Christian but not Muslim. But Cruz, a Republican presidential candidate, certainly took offense when he spoke to reporters Wednesday .
“Let me suggest something Mr President, if you want to insult me, you can do it overseas. You can do it in Turkey. You can do it in foreign countries,” Cruz told reporters. “But I would encourage you, Mr. President, come back and insult me to my face.”
