White House Condemns Murders of Ethiopian Christians in Libya By ISIS

'These terrorists killed these men solely because of their faith'

The statement was not from President Obama but from the National Security Council spokesperson

An Obama administration official late Sunday condemned the mass murder of Ethiopian Christians in Libya, purportedly by terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“We express our condolences to the families of the victims and our support to the Ethiopian government and people as they grieve for their fellow citizens,” National Security Council spokesperson Bernadette Meehan said in a statement.

“That these terrorists killed these men solely because of their faith lays bare the terrorists’ vicious, senseless brutality. This atrocity once again underscores the urgent need for a political resolution to the conflict in Libya to empower a unified Libyan rejection of terrorist groups,” she added.

A propaganda video released by the ISIS group on Sunday appears to show the killing of two different groups of Ethiopian Christians captured by the extremist group's Libyan affiliates.
