A liberal Washington Post columnist says he has suffered verbal abuse after admitting that the “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative was false.
Jonathan Capehart said on Monday that the DOJ report reveals that Darren Wilson was justified in shooting Michael Brown.
He wrote in a column that the “hands up, don’t shoot” mantra “was wrong, built on a lie.” Ever since, Capehart said he has been attacked by the public.
Capehart told MSNBC that fellow African-Americans have called him a “sellout” and a “house negro.” Some have accused him of wanting white people to like him, while others have charged him with making such statements for money, he said.
“I did it because it was the right thing to do,” Capehart said.
