Apparently President Barack Obama thinks Rand Paul is an interesting guy, too.
Addressing the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting in Washington on Friday, the president laid out party priorities on the economy, health care and other issues, noting a sense of increased cooperation with Republicans.
The mere mention of the Kentucky senator’s name elicited groans from his audience.
“Rand is an interesting guy,” Obama said, eliciting laughter from the partisan crowd. “No, he is … And Rand Paul said the Republican Party needs to show up on the South Side of Chicago and shout at the top of its lungs that the GOP is the ticket to the middle class.”
Obama returned from a Thursday trip to his adopted hometown, where he declared three new national monuments.
