Marco Rubio Hires Mitt Romney's Top New Hampshire Aide

More indication that Rubio is definitely running in 2016.

But I'm not sure what his path to victory is. Rubio is currently in 9th place in Iowa according to the most recent Des Moines Register poll and in 7th place in  New Hampshire according to a Bloomberg poll out yesterday.  He is gonna give up his Florida senate seat for this?  I don't get it.

In a sign that says much about his presidential intentions, Marco Rubio has hired Mitt Romney’s top New Hampshire aide to help him with his political activities in the Northeast.

Jim Merrill will join Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC, the Florida senator’s office confirmed. Merrill’s new position was first reported by the New York Times.

“Marco has always been well received in New Hampshire, and should he run for president, he would be very competitive there,” said Terry Sullivan, director of Reclaim America, in a statement. “Jim certainly knows how to win in New Hampshire and in the Northeast, and will be a great addition to our team at Reclaim America.”

Merrill is the first high-profile aide of Romney’s in New Hampshire to sign on with a likely GOP presidential candidate since the 2012 presidential nominee said he would not seek the White House again. In 2011-2012, Merrill was a senior adviser and general consultant to Romney in the first-in-the-nation primary state.
