Herman Cain: Mitt Romney Should Choose Allen West as His Vice Presidential Nominee

Add Herman Cain to the list of those calling for West as V.P.

Herman Cain is calling on Mitt Romney to name Rep. Allen West of Florida his vice presidential nominee.

Asked on the “Steve Gill Show” on Monday who he would recommend if Romney were to come to him for advice on the running mate decision, Cain answered without skipping a beat, “Col. Allen West out of Florida

The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza explained on the radio show, “Here’s why. He is direct. People in Florida love him. He has a huge following. He is from Florida – Florida is going to be one of those key states But more importantly, Col. Allen West is a dedicated patriot, he served in the military and he’s willing to serve his country some more.”

Cain predicted that there may be some “pushback” because West is only serving out his first term as a congressman, but insisted that this shouldn’t deter the Florida congressman.

But my advice to [West], if he were to ask me, is, ‘You served your country well, and now you have a higher calling,’” Cain said. “And I would strongly recommend that he consider it, depending upon any personal consideration that he might have.”

“I think he would be an excellent choice,” he added.
