Final Gallup Generic Congressional Ballot: Republicans With a 15 Point Lead Among Likely Voters

This would spell a GOP wipe out...

gallup.com
PRINCETON, NJ -- The final USA Today/Gallup measure of Americans' voting intentions for Congress shows Republicans continuing to hold a substantial lead over Democrats among likely voters, a lead large enough to suggest that regardless of turnout, the Republicans will win more than the 40 seats needed to give them the majority in the U.S. House.

The results are from Gallup's Oct. 28-31 survey of 1,539 likely voters. It finds 52% to 55% of likely voters preferring the Republican candidate and 40% to 42% for the Democratic candidate on the national generic ballot -- depending on turnout assumptions. Gallup's analysis of several indicators of voter turnout from the weekend poll suggests turnout will be slightly higher than in recent years, at 45%. This would give the Republicans a 55% to 40% lead on the generic ballot, with 5% undecided

Jon Ralston Makes Final Prediction: Harry Reid Will Beat Sharron Angle By 2 Points In Nevada Senate Race

I hope a tea party wave proves him wrong on Tuesday

voices.washingtonpost
RALSTON WRITES: "Reid's handlers have run one of the most spectacular campaigns in history at all levels: The turnout machine is formidable. The TV has been pitch perfect. The strategy -- to peel moderate Republicans and independents who might not like their guy away from Angle -- has worked...

In the end, if she loses, I believe the six weeks following the GOP nominee's primary win -- she had a double-digit lead in June polls -- were pivotal. During that period, the Reid ad campaign defined her so starkly and turned enough people into Anglophobes to give him a chance.

One more thing: Republicans do not have the huge turnout advantage in early voting they should in a wave election -- under 4 points. And all the data I have seen tell me that unless Reid loses independents by 15 points or so, he will hold on.

But I think he finds a way to survive. The result: Reid, 47 percent; Angle, 45 percent; rest, 4 percent; none of the above, 4 percent

Rand Paul Supporter Charged With Fourth-Degree Assault For Stomping Incident With MoveOn Activist

A misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail, a $500 fine or both

Lexington Herald Leader
The Paris man accused of stepping on a liberal activist at a U.S. Senate candidate debate in Lexington on Monday will go before a district court judge next month.

Timothy Mark Profitt, 53, is charged with fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, for stepping on the shoulder and neck of Lauren Valle, a MoveOn.org activist who was trying to get close to Republican candidate Rand Paul to present him with a mock award. Profitt will be arraigned Nov. 18, according to court records.

Fourth-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail, a $500 fine or a combination of both
.

A criminal summons says Profitt "intentionally placed his foot on the shoulder/head region on the victim."

"I'm sorry that it came to that, and I apologize if it appeared overly forceful, but I was concerned about Rand's safety," Tim Profitt told The Associated Press.

The volunteer said Tuesday the scuffle was not as bad as it looked on video and blamed police for not intervening.

Listen: Voicemail From Charlie Crist To Kendrick Meek Surfaces (Audio)

This was left before 5:00 a.m. Monday morning. CRIST: Let's see if "we can work out a time to get together, just you and me"

St. Petersburg Times
The Buzz has obtained the voice mail Charlie Crist left shortly before 5 a.m. Monday for Kendrick Meek, hoping to meet later that day to set up a deal were Meek would leave the race. Meek, of course, said no.

Crist starts out by referencing a phone call from Meek. Here's what happened, sources say: Crist started calling Meek a lot in days leading up to the CNN/St. Pete Times debate Sunday in Tampa. "He was basically phone banking him," a source told us. After the debate, Crist approached Kendrick. The spoke very briefly. The calls kept coming and that evening, Meek called Crist, who did not answer.

Russ Feingold: Obama Will Be in Great Shape When He Runs For Re-election, It Will Be Obvious The Stimulus And Health Care Was The Right Thing To Do

Russ Feingold talks to Walter Shapiro of politicsdaily

SHAPIRO: Russ Feingold is facing an uphill battle against conservative Republican plastics manufacturer Ron Johnson, who has been leading in all published polls since July. The irony is that Feingold is under fire not for his dogged independence but for his support of most of Obama's legislative agenda from the 2009 economic stimulus to the health care bill.

Feingold -- who sponsored along with Republican John McCain the landmark 2002 campaign reform legislation -- sat down earlier this month with Politics Daily for a wide-ranging interview. Politics Daily made a similar interview request to the Ron Johnson campaign, but never received a response.

Bill Clinton Headed Back to Florida To Campaign For Kendrick Meek

A 27 point deficit will have to be erased in 3 days...

politicalticker
Former President Bill Clinton will campaign with Florida Democratic Senate candidate Kendrick Meek in Orlando on Monday night, just days after controversial reports that Clinton asked Meek to withdraw from the race and throw his support behind independent Senate candidate, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.

Clinton said that he spoke with Meek twice regarding the possibility of leaving the race, but that he had not asked him to do so.

"He was trying to determine what was the best thing for him to do," Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Susan Candiotti on Thursday. "I knew it was being discussed, people had discussed it on and off. It was no secret."

Meek told CNN Friday that Clinton had never approached him about exiting the race, but said Crist had been the one to broach the subject.

"Gov. Crist talked to me about getting out of the race. I recommend to the governor that he should consider getting out of the race." Meek said.

Jeb Bush Rallies For Rick Scott: "“I Want a Tax Cutting, Budget Cutting, Job Climate Creating Governor and Rick Scott is the Man"

Jeb Bush in Orlando this morning with Florida Republican candidate for Governor Rick Scott

palmbeachpost
ORLANDO _ Florida GOP political icon Jeb Bush pumped up support for the Republican statewide candidates at a rally in Orlando this morning.

About 150 supporters crowded into a hangar at a private airport in Orlando to cheer on gubernatorial candidate, who made the Orlando event his first on the fifth day of his week-long statewide bus tour.

There’s a cloud on our state. I think there’s a lot of pessimism in our state right now. I think we need a can-do leader that lifts the cloud,” Bush said in his introduction of Rick Scott. “I want a tax cutting, budget cutting, job creating governor and Rick Scott is the one.”

Bush and his lieutenant governor pumped up the crowd for the GOP Cabinet slate, who also joined Scott on the platform with Bush and his former lieutenant governor Toni Jennins
I'll be very surprised if Rick Scott doesn't win this race. I know there were polls this week showing Scott trailing and leading, but Alex Sink is probably one of the weakest candidates I've seen, she's not articulate, she's not a leader and most important she doesn't tell the truth

Fox News Poll: GOP With a 13 Point Lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot

With numbers like this, just about everything is in play

foxnews.com
With less than a week to go before Election Day, widespread dissatisfaction with the way things are going in the country combined with negative views of the economy and frustration with the government point to major trouble for the incumbent majority Democrats.

In addition, a Fox News poll released Friday shows President Obama’s job approval has hit a record low. The new poll finds if the election were held today, 50 percent of likely voters would favor the Republican candidate in their House district and 37 percent the Democratic candidate, with 10 percent still undecided.

Sharron Angle Campaign Shuts Out CBS, NBC Affiliates from Election Night Coverage

You'll see why in this video. The 2 (local) affiliates CBS and NBC want to ask her questions so they wait for her at the McCarran Airport but then they chase her all the way out to the parking lot until she got into her SUV with her husband. This guy just keeps on following her like he's TMZ paparazzi... Here's the video:

cbsnews
Nevada Republican Senate hopeful Sharron Angle arrived to Las Vegas' McCarran Airport this morning to do some campaigning in Southern Nevada.

The Tea Party-backed candidate was greeted by KLAS reporter Nathan Baca who asked Angle questions as she walked through the airport.

Later in the morning, Angle's campaign team met with local and national media to coordinate press coverage of her on election night. Angle's communications director asked KLAS, the CBS Las Vegas affiliate, to leave the meeting and banned them from covering Angle at the Venetian Hotel on November 2.

She said the reporter's attempt to talk to Angle at the airport was a paparazzi ambush. They also banned the NBC affiliate KSNV because one of their reporters was at the airport as well.

Angle has been criticized for dodging questions for the press; she has declined all requests from KLAS for interviews about her positions on issues.

Sarah Palin Blasts Lisa Murkowski on Facebook

This is over Anchorage radio talk show host Dan Fagan being pulled off the air

facebook.com/sarahpalin

Yesterday, Lisa Murkowski’s hired guns threatened radio host Dan Fagan, and more importantly, the station that airs Fagan’s show, with legal action for allegedly illegal “electioneering.” The station, unlike Murkowski, who is flush with millions of dollars from vested corporate interests, does not have a budget for a legal defense. So it did what any small market station would do when threatened by Beltway lawyers charging $500 to $1000 an hour – they pulled Dan Fagan off the air.

Does all this sound heavy handed? It is. It is an interference with Dan Fagan’s constitutional right to free speech. It is also a shocking indictment against Lisa Murkowski. How low will she go to hold onto power?

This whole episode confirms again why we need to elect Joe Miller. Lisa, you can sue me if you want (you won’t be the first). But I will not be intimidated from speaking my mind. Your intimidation just empowered us liberty-loving Alaskans. Are you really that out of touch?

Obama Approval Rating Hits a Record Low of 41% in The Fox News Poll

And he has no one to blame but himself...

weaselzippers

Two-thirds of voters are dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country today, and more than not think Barack Obama’s presidency has made the country weaker (45 percent) rather than stronger (37 percent).

The president’s job approval among registered voters is currently 41 percent, a record low. This compares to 43 percent in mid-October and 46 percent in early September.

Frustrations are high. Most voters feel dissatisfied (51 percent) or even angry (25 percent) about the way the federal government is working. Just one in five is satisfied (22 percent), while 2 percent are enthusiastic. Angry voters are backing the Republican candidate by a 65-point margin.

Nearly half of likely voters -- 46 percent -- say they will cast their vote to express opposition to Obama administration policies.

That shouldn’t be surprising given almost all voters rate economic conditions negatively, only a quarter thinks the stimulus plan has helped the economy, and fewer than one in five wants the new health care law to remain intact. Poll can be found at foxnews.com/politics

Advisor To Charlie Crist Says He'll Caucus With The Democrats If He Wins Florida's Senate Race

What a laugh, Charlie Crist ran this ad 2 weeks ago titled "Independence"

He didn't fool anybody

Wall Street Journal
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist would caucus with Senate Democrats if he wins Florida’s three-way U.S. Senate contest on Tuesday, a close advisor told Washington Wire Friday.

That’s a big “if.” Mr. Crist is trailing Republican candidate Marco Rubio in most polls. But the declaration by Florida trial lawyer John Morgan sheds light on one of the many mysteries in the Bill Clinton-Charlie Crist-Kendrick Meek imbroglio.

“Crist is going to caucus with the Democrats,” Mr. Morgan said. “I don’t think there’s any ifs, ands or buts about it. It would be, in a very tight year, almost like a Democratic pickup in a solid Republican state.”

Mr. Morgan says the question of whether Mr. Crist would side with Democrats had nothing to do with any purported deal under which Mr. Meek would quit the race.
The good thing here is that Charlie Crist won't be caucusing with anybody as he will be soundly defeated on election day by Marco Rubio. After he leaves the governorship, maybe he can get a job at a golf course or something

Florida Republican Candidate Reveals Rape in TV Campaign Ad (Video)

Lizbeth Benacquisto reveals secret in campaign ad. Powerful video

abcnews.com
With just days to go until Election Day, a Florida state Senate candidate has used a televised campaign ad to drop a very personal bombshell.

Fla. Senate candidate Lizbeth Benacquisto reveals that she was raped at 19."When I was 19 I was raped," Republican Lizbeth Benacquisto reveals to viewers. "And until now I've dealt with this privately."

The eleventh-hour advertisement attacked her opponent, Democratic State Rep. Kevin Rader for what she said was his assertion, made in his own televised ad, that Benacquisto's stance on abortion rights made criminals out of rape victims.

"For anyone to go so far in a political ad to characterize or claim that victims of rape or incest would become criminals crosses a line," she told ABCNews.com today. "I couldn't stand for any woman hearing that and thinking any of that was true."

Benacquisto's ad, which began airing Wednesday in Florida, has earned both praise and criticism.

Sources: Explosive May Be Same as Christmas Day Attack

washingtonpost
WASHINGTON -- U.S. officials say they believe two packages bound for the United States contained the same powerful explosive used in the failed Christmas Day airline bombing.

The officials said full testing has not been completed but initial indications are the packages contained PETN, a chemical that was also a component of shoe bomber Richard Reid's explosive in 2001.

The packages were seized in Dubai and England on Friday. President Barack Obama called it a credible terrorist threat.

PETN is the primary ingredient in detonating cords used for industrial explosions and is popular among terrorist groups. It is a white powder. Officials have confirmed the package in England contained a white powder

MoveOn Supporter Regrets Initiating Physical Altercation With Conservative Tea Partier

"I need to learn some self control"

theDC
MoveOn and Republicorps member Fred Highton says he regrets initiating a physical altercation with a conservative Tea Partier at a political event at the University of Arizona earlier this month.

“If I’m going to take part in these political events, I need to learn some self-control,” Highton said.

Conservative James Massee released video of Highton grabbing his throat and face after the face-stomping video from a Kentucky rally for Republican Rand Paul.

I released it just to show there are some lefties who could be violent too,” Massee said.

Massee said he approached Highton while he was giving a theatrical performance of how MoveOn thinks Republicans treat the working and middle classes to voice his opinion at which point he said Highton started choking him. Massee said he then found a nearby police officer to take control of the situation instead of hitting Highton back.

Bill Clinton Headed Back to Kentucky to Campaign For Democrat Jack Conway The Day Before the Election

The first visit didn't help, let's try again...

Louisville courier-journal
Former President Bill Clinton will campaign Monday in Louisville for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jack Conway — making his second trip to the state this month to stump for the attorney general.

Former state Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Lundergan, a close associate of Clinton, said the time and location of his visit are still being decided.

“He's pretty much in demand everywhere,” Lundergan said. “We're just happy to be able to get him back into Kentucky.”

Clinton attended a rally for Conway, who is running against Republican eye surgeon Rand Paul, earlier this month at the University of Kentucky.

The Conway campaign had announced previously that the former president would return to the state, but there had been no details about where he would appear.

On Thursday, after a rally at Democratic headquarters in Frankfort, Conway said Kentuckians would be reminded that Clinton left office with a budget surplus and oversaw an economy that created jobs.
Rasmussen now has Rand Paul 12 points ahead of Jack Conway.

Race For Colorado Governor: Tom Tancredo 5 Points Behind Democrat John Hickenlooper

Close...

rasmussenreports
Republican candidate Dan Maes now has just single-digit support, but Democrat John Hickenlooper still holds a slight lead over independent candidate Tom Tancredo in Colorado’s race for governor.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state shows Hickenlooper with a 47% to 42% lead over Tancredo, a former GOP congressman now running as the candidate of the American Constitution Party. Maes trails with five percent (5%) support. Six percent (6%) like some other candidate in the race, and one percent (1%) is undecided

This is the best showing yet for both Hickenlooper and Tancredo, and the race moves back to Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard. Two weeks ago, Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver, held a 42% to 38% lead over Tancredo, with Maes at 12.

Support for Tancredo who entered the race saying Maes cannot beat Hickenlooper has risen from 14% in late August, while Maes’ support has dropped from a high of 31% just after his GOP Primary win earlier that month. In that same period, Hickenlooper’s support has generally held steady in the low to mid40s

Poll Shows Surge For Christine O'Donnell in Delaware

Survey from Monmouth University

cnn.com
A surprising new Senate poll in Delaware shows Republican Christine O'Donnell may be in striking distance of Democrat Chris Coons.

According to the new survey from Monmouth University, the surprise Republican nominee is only 10 points behind Coons, drawing 41 percent of the vote. In a previous Monmouth poll conducted two weeks ago, O'Donnell trailed by 19 points.

But the latest Monmouth survey differs substantially from two other recent polls, including a Farleigh Dickinson survey released Thursday that showed a 21-point advantage for Coons and a CNN/Time poll released earlier this month that indicated a 19-point lead for Coons.

The latest Monmouth poll surveyed 1,171 voters between October 25-27 and carries a sampling error of plus or minus 3%

KY Democratic Party Releases Ad Against Republican Rand Paul Using Video From Stomping Incident

Yeah, this is gonna go over real well in Kentucky, about as well as the Aqua Buddha ad, I should point out that Rand Paul never saw the 'stomping' incident as he had already walked away. This is from the KY Democratic Party "The Rand Paul Stomp"

With their Senate candidate Jack Conway falling behind in the polls, the Kentucky Democratic party is attempting to use the recent "head stomping" incident at a Kentucky Senate debate to portray Republican candidate Rand Paul in a negative light.

The Democrats' new ad uses footage from the Monday event in which Lauren Valle, a 23-year-old liberal activist, was wrestled to the ground and stepped on by Rand Paul supporters. The approximately 60-second spot splices the violent footage with policies Democrats have dubbed "The Rand Paul Stomp" -- such as "End student loans" and "End mine safety laws."
You have to wonder who is calling the shots when these ads are released, all this is gonna do is turn out Republicans, Independents and the Tea Party on election day, people are tired of this...

The poll he is referring to is the sunshinestatenews.com news poll released Tuesday morning showing Republican Daniel Webster 7 points ahead of Democrat Alan Grayson

Bill Clinton Urged Kendrick Meek to Drop Out of Race in Florida **UPDATE**Kendrick Meek Responds To The Article in Politico

Looks like those rumors were true...

firstread
POLITICO's Ben Smith reports tonight that former President Bill Clinton, a longtime ally of Florida Senate candidate Kendrick Meek, got close to convincing the Democratic candidate to drop out of the three-way race in the face of flagging poll numbers.

Meek's exit could have paved the way for a victory by independent candidate Gov. Charlie Crist. Crist and Meek have split the votes of Democratic-leaning voters, allowing conservative Republican Marco Rubio a comfortable first-place lead. A recent poll showed Meek with just 15 percent of the vote.

Smith reports that Clinton almost succeeded. Twice.

Clinton campaigned with Meek in Florida on Oct. 19 and 20, and thought he had won Meek over in an evening conversation the night they spent together in Jacksonville. But as the week wore on, Meek lost his enthusiasm for the arrangement, spurred in part, a third Democratic source said, by his wife’s belief that he could still win the race. Clinton spoke with Meek again at week’s end, three Democrats said, and again Meek said he would drop out
.

It was a completely done deal,” one source said.

The Crist, Meek and Clinton camps even set a date for an endorsement rally: the following Tuesday, Oct. 26.

But Meek changed his mind again last weekend, writes Smith

Could someone in the media please find Alcee Hastings, he was warning Democrats one week ago about their failure to support Kendrick Meek, can we ask him what he thinks of Bill Clinton? Roll tape:

**UPDATE**Kendrick Meek Responds to the story in politico: From kendrickmeek.com
"The article is not true. Kendrick Meek was never dropping out of this race, is never dropping out of this race, and will never drop out of this race. Kendrick Meek will always stand up for the middle class and will not leave Floridians a choice between two lifelong conservative Republicans who only stand with the special interests. Kendrick is the Democratic nominee so if anyone should drop out, it's Charlie Crist."

Lamar Alexander Will Campaign For Delaware Republican Senate Candidate Christine O'Donnell

Everytime I see Lamar Alexander I think of those red flannel shirts he and his supporters wore in his run for the Republican nomination in 1996...Anyway, Lamar is headed to Delaware

politicalticker
Lamar Alexander, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, will make a campaign appearance Friday in Delaware with GOP Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell, CNN has learned.

The Tennessee senator is the first member of the Senate Republican leadership to appear with O'Donnell, according to an Alexander aide.

O'Donnell stunned and disappointed the GOP establishment when she beat Rep. Mike Castle in the Republican primary. Castle was considered a sure winner in the general election, but O'Donnell now trails her Democratic opponent Chris Coons by double digits.

"Christine O'Donnell's election will help provide a badly needed check and balance on a runaway federal government that has given us too much spending, too many taxes, too much debt, and too many Washington takeovers," Alexander said in a statement posted in the endorsements section of O'Donnell's campaign web site.

At the 9am event at Buckley's Restaurant in Centerville, Alexander will thank O'Donnell's volunteers and supporters and he will hold a press conference.
Notice the article says that this is "the first member of the Republican leadership to appear with O'Donnell." There is simply no excuse for the GOP leadership to not do everything in their power to win this Senate seat from the Democrats, especially in a possible wave election, anything can happen...

Jon Ralston: GOP Closing in on 5 Percentage Point Edge in Clark County, But Democrats Have 14,000 Raw Vote Lead in Urban Nevada

vegassun
More than 228,000 people have now voted in Clark County at the polls or by mail – 46 percent Democrats (a tick above their registration) and 38 percent Republicans (about 5 points more than their registration). Republicans now have nearly a 5 percent turnout lead in Clark – the next two days, presumably the heaviest, could be key to the U.S. Senate race.

About 54,000 people have voted early in Washoe County, with the Republicans holding a 3 percent edge. Rural tallies are harder to come by, but one knowledgeable source says the total number voted is now about 330,000, and the Republicans have under a 4 percent edge. (It was 6 percent overall in 2006, but more people proportionally will vote early this year, so it’s not apples to apples.)

It appears that 60 percent at least will vote before Tuesday, perhaps even two-thirds.
Total Clark early voting percentages relative to registration:

Democrats: 27.2 percent
Republicans: 31.4 percent

Total Clark with mail ballots added (Democrats now have a 2,200-ballot lead):

Democrats: 31.2 percent
Republicans: 36.0 percent

Total urban early vote:

Democrats: 112,944 (26.8 percent)
Republicans: 100,970 (30.5 percent)

Total urban early vote (including absentees in Clark):

Democrats: 126,296 (29.9 percent)
Republicans: 112,164 (33.9 percent)

Democratic Rep. Heath Shuler Says He Might Run for Speaker if a "Viable Alternative" to Speaker Nancy Pelosi Does Not Emerge

Lets run the numbers, 6 incumbent Democrats say they will not vote for Pelosi as Speaker, 8 Democratic candidates say they won't support Pelosi if elected in November

thehill.com
Conservative Democratic Rep. Heath Shuler (N.C.) said Wednesday he might run for Speaker if a "viable alternative" to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) does not emerge.

"If there is no viable alternative [to Pelosi], I will be running for Speaker of the House," Shuler said during a debate with his Republican foe Jeff Miller on WWNC Radio, the Ashville Citizen-Times reported.

The statement from the second-term congressman, a former college football star who played as a pro with the NFL's Washington Redskins, is another sign of Pelosi's unpopularity among centrist and conservative Democrats, many of whom are facing tough reelection contests.

With his statement, Shuler became the sixth incumbent Democrat to indicate they will not vote for Pelosi for another term as Speaker. The other five are Reps. Bobby Bright (Ala.), Jim Marshall (Ga.), Gene Taylor (Miss.), Mike McIntyre (N.C.) and Jason Altmire (Pa.)

Eight Democratic candidates have also said they won't support Pelosi if they are elected to Congress.

“If that's the alternative, I will be voting for myself,” Shuler replied.“If she's there you wouldn't vote for her; you'd vote for yourself?” Miller asked.

“I don't know how I can be any clearer," Shuler replied. "I can do as good a job as anybody in the U.S. Congress, because I can actually bring people together

Third Massacre in Mexico in One Week: 15 Slain at a Mexican Carwash

Tepic, Mexico

Three other people were wounded. The Times said a witness told W Radio men armed with rifles showed up at the carwash in two sport utility vehicles, got out and started shooting.

On Sunday, 13 men were slain at a drug treatment center in Tijuana and on Friday, 14 were killed at a birthday party in Ciudad Juarez.

New Poll: Democrat Alex Sink Leading Republican Rick Scott in Florida Governor's Race

Alex Sink is 4 points ahead in the race for Governor of Florida, Sink at 45%, Rick Scott at 41%, however, the poll was conducted just prior to Monday's debate where Democrat Alex Sink was caught breaking the rules and later lying on cable new about the incident

blogs.foxnews.com
MIAMI, Fl- Alex Sink, the Democrat in the Florida's governor's race is leading Republican Rick Scott 45 percent to 41 percent in a new Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday. However, another 11 percent are undecided and 9 percent of those who name a candidate say they might change their mind in the final few days before Election Day, according to the poll, which has a margin of error of +/- 3.5.

"This race looks like it will go to the finish line as a dead heat," Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac said.

The new survey was conducted just prior to Monday's CNN/St Petersburg Times debate between the two candidates that included Sink's cell-phone snafu during a commercial break.

Larry Sabato's Final Election Prediction: Republicans +55 Seats in the House, + 8 Seats in the Senate

Sabato on Fox News this morning says this election was over a long time ago, nothing has changed since labor day despite $4 billion spent

SABATO: "What really surprises me is how little things have changed since that pre-labor day projection of +47, I've gone up to plus 55 but thing about that, it's 8 seats out of a 435 house, we've had $4 billion spent, we've had literally hundreds of thousands of ads in all kinds of other things, this election is about fundamentals, it was over a long time ago"
Sabato's prediction is pretty much identicle to 1994 when the GOP picked up 54 in the House and 8 in the Senate. In 1994, Bill Clinton who had been rejected by the voters was willing to pivot, I just don't see that happening with this President

Ireland's Largest Bookie Says GOP Can't Lose, Pays Off All Bettors Early Who Wagered Republicans Would Capture the House

"In our opinion, this race is over"

washingtontimes.com
Saying there's no way Democrats can keep control of the House, Ireland's largest bookie on Wednesday said it has already paid off all bettors who wagered the GOP would capture the chamber.

“In our opinion this race is well and truly over with nothing short of a miracle stopping the Republicans taking down the House," said Ken Robertson, communications manager for Paddy Power, the Irish bookmaker.

Mr. Robertson said the odds had tipped so much in Republicans' favor it made no sense to continue taking bets. In July Democrats were favored 8-11 to keep control, but by Wednesday the GOP was favored 1-50, meaning it would take a bet of $50 would win just an addition $1.

Other overseas bookies are still taking bets on control of the House. Victor Chandler betting house, for example, gives the GOP 1-25 odds while Betfair gives them 1-10 odds.

The bookies say control of the Senate remains a contested issue, though both Paddy Power and Victor Chandler give Democrats the edge to keep control, at 2-9 odds.

Another Audience Breaks Into Pledge Of Allegiance Despite Moderator's Objection (Video)

2nd time this has happened in a week, at a debate in Pennsylvania an audience member asks if they are going to say the pledge, the moderator says no, the audience then takes over...

eyeblast.tv

Saying the Pledge of Allegiance is hardly controversial but it seemed so at a League of Women Voters Congressional Debate in Peters Township Tuesday night.

Democrat Dan Connolly and Republican Tim Murphy were about to begin when Murphy asked the moderator for the pledge. As the moderator hesitated, the crowd took action on its own.

The same occurred in Illinois on Oct. 20 when an audience member asked, "Are we going to say the Pledge of Allegiance?" The moderator responded, "No we are not. That's not part of the proposal tonight."

Again, the audience overruled the moderator, standing to say the pledge
.

"There have been some groups who want to create a ruckus, call attention to something and using the pledge to the flag and making it seem the league is unpatriotic if we don't," says Greater Pittsburgh League President Arlene Levy.

Rove Says Sarah Palin Lacks 'Gravitas' for Presidential Run

Rove says upcoming Alaska reality TV show will hurt her chances

msnbc.com
Karl Rove told a British newspaper Wednesday that he has serious doubts about Sarah Palin's viability as a presidential candidate.

The former senior adviser to George W. Bush told The Daily Telegraph of London that he questioned whether Americans thought the former Alaska governor had the "gravitas" for the "most demanding job in the world."

It was a stronger stand than Rove took earlier in the week in addressing Palin's prospects for 2012.
ROVE: "With all due candour, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of 'that helps me see you in the Oval Office’,”

"There are high standards that the American people have for it [the presidency] and they require a certain level of gravitas, and they want to look at the candidate and say 'that candidate is doing things that gives me confidence that they are up to the most demanding job in the world
