RFK Jr. Attacks George W. Bush and the Oil Industry For Tragic Spill in the Gulf

It's really Bush's fault....No surprise coming from him...

newsbusters
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. must be having trouble remembering who is president these days. Kennedy spent much of his April 30 CNN interview attacking the previous administration for last week's Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster and subsequent oil spill.

But then Kennedy attacked President George W. Bush and the oil industry as a whole for the tragic spill still being dealt with off the Louisiana coastline. The founder of Waterkeeper Alliance, a left-wing environmental group, told Sanchez that his organization filed a class-action lawsuit on the behalf of Louisiana fishermen.

Host Rick Sanchez asked "What did these guys do wrong? Were they careless?"

Kennedy replied affirmatively and went on to attack not merely the single company (British Petroleum) responsible for the drilling platform, but the entire oil industry and the Bush administration:

"But because of the oil industry's influence on the Bush administration -- the Bush administration waved that requirement [for acoustic regulators used in Europe]. So it made the oil spills intrinsically much more dangerous,"

ABC15 Source: Sheriff Joe Arpaio Will Announce Run For Governor of Arizona Monday

Several sources confirm to ABC 15 Phoenix that Arpaio has already made a decision

abc15.com
PHOENIX – Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is expected to announce Monday if he'll run for Arizona governor. Several sources confirm to the ABC15 Investigators that Arpaio has already made a decision, and will likely run for the office.

In a news conference after this story was first published, the Sheriff said he was still weighing his options, but also that he would in fact have an announcement on Monday.

However, when asked about a state sales tax during the news conference, the Sheriff said, "When I'm the governor, I'll study the issue." He then clarified, "If become the governor..so I become the governor...I'll study it."

Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen said he has spoken with the Sheriff on several occasions about running for governor.

As recently as last week, Pullen said the Sheriff told him by phone that "he was just letting me know he was seriously considering it and he was meeting with his advisors and supporters to make a final decision, and that decision would be in very early May."

Several high ranking sources within the Sheriff's Department tell the ABC15 Investigators that all the necessary paperwork "has been filled out and is ready to file."

Rasmussen: Race For Joe Biden's Old Senate Seat Has GOP Candidate 23 Points Ahead of the Democrat

Joe Biden held this Senate seat from January 1973 to January 2009...

rasmussenreports
The U.S. Senate race in Delaware is virtually unchanged over the past two months, with Republican Mike Castle continuing to draw strong support from the state’s voters.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Delaware shows Castle picking up 55% support to Democrat Chris Coons’ 32%. Seven percent (7%) of the state’s voters prefer some other candidate, while another seven percent (7%) are undecided.

Support for Castle has remained in a narrow range of 52% to 56% over the past three surveys conducted since January. The longtime GOP congressman received just 47% support last October matched against state Attorney General Beau Biden, but Biden made the surprise decision in January not to enter the race.

Of Course, Blagojevich Judge Refuses to Grant Subpoena for President Obama

Judge says lawyers for Rod Blagojevich did not produce enough evidence that the president would have something useful to say in the former Illinois governor's corruption case.

foxnews.com
CHICAGO -- A federal judge in Chicago has refused to issue a subpoena for President Obama to testify at former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's political corruption trial.

U.S. District Judge James Zagel ruled Friday that lawyers for Blagojevich had not produced sufficient evidence that Obama would have anything material to say on the witness stand.

Defense attorneys had claimed that the president could shed light on charges that Blagojevich schemed to sell or trade Obama's former U.S. Senate seat.

Joy Behar Compares Arizona Immigration Law to 'Gay Bashing' and 'Fascism'

"You know I was thinking of how it's similar to gay bashing in a way"

newsbusters
Joy Behar, along with three guests, continued to crusade against the new Arizona immigration law on April 29.

Guests included Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon, actress Rosie Perez and singer Jon Secada who all joined Behar in bashing the law.

Liberal Behar attempted to link immigration reform to attacks on gays saying, “You know I was thinking of how it's similar to gay bashing in a way. Because, you know, they'll come in from other parts of the country or wherever and they'll attack some gay guys in the Village here and Chelsea in New York City based on the way they look. It's a very similar thing that's going on. We're going to judge you on how you look, we’re gonna throw you in jail, and also they’re gonna throw these people in jail for six months

Just a few days earlier on April 26, Behar compared the bill to Nazism: “Do you think it’s kind of – doesn’t it feel like sort of Nazism a little bit?

Behar and her April 29 guests had harsh words for the bill. Perez labeled it “disgusting” and said “it is 100 percent completely wrong.” Gordon said Behar and Perez were “understating how bad this is ethically, morally.”

John Boehner: GOP Could Pick Up 100 Seats in the House

thehill.com
House Republicans could win 100 or more seats in this fall's elections, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Friday.

Boehner said he believes there is no seat that the GOP cannot win during this election cycle, judging by Sen. Scott Brown's (R) improbable win in January's special election in Massachusetts.

Reflecting Republican optimism that they can win back control of the House this fall, Boehner said 2010 has the widest playing field for Republicans in a while.

"Let me remind you that Scott Brown won the Ted Kennedy Senate seat in Massachusetts," Boehner said during an appearance on National Public Radio. "If Scott Brown can win in America, there isn't a seat in America that Republicans can't win."

When pressed for a number, Boehner said he believed the GOP could win as many as 100 seats in this fall's elections.

"At least 100 seats," Boehner said when asked how wide the playing field for districts is. "I do," the top House Republican answered when asked if he thinks there are 100 seats in the U.S. "that could change hands."

At 6:30 a.m., agents using a mobile surveillance system spotted what appeared to be three groups of illegal border crossers moving up into the Baboquivari Mountains close to the U.S.-Mexico border, said Border Patrol spokesman David Jimarez.

Agents called for help from a Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine helicopter. When the helicopter spotted the groups, they bunched together into one group and by 11 a.m. agents had apprehended them. They were a mix of illegal immigrants from Mexico, Central and South America, he said. They were taken to the Tucson station to be fingerprinted and set up for return to their home countries.

"There is not a chance that immigration is going to move through Congress. Even the president, last night, admitted this wasn't going to happen," the top-ranking House Republican told reporters on Thursday.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s support remains frozen again this month around 40%, while two of his chief Republican opponents continue to draw over 50% of the vote in Nevada’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Nevada shows Reid earning 39% to 41% support, depending on his opponent, well below the 50% safe mark for incumbents. His numbers are virtually identical to findings in the previous survey earlier this month and in line with surveys since last fall when his support began trending down.

Reid, who is seeking a fifth term in the Senate, received 61% of the vote in 2004.
Nearly half the voters in the state (47%) continue to have a very unfavorable view of the Democratic incumbent, while 23% view him very favorably.

Harry Reid accused Republicans of being “anti-American” by demanding changes to a Wall Street regulation bill before it's debated openly on the Senate floor.

Speaking to reporters just before the Democrats’ third attempt to break a GOP filibuster on the issue, Reid said that Republicans “keep stalling, keep stalling.” He charged Republicans with trying to pick apart the bill before it even comes to the floor where both sides could offer amendments and openly debate the measure.

Even some Democrats would like to offer amendments on this bill,” Reid said. “All of this talk from Republicans about wanting to do something about this bill before it gets on the floor is really anti-Senate and anti-American.”

At the same time, 76% say it is more important to gain control of the border than it is to legalize the status of undocumented workers. Only 19% believe it is more important to legalize the status of undocumented workers already in the country. These views, too, are consistent with national preferences. Arizona Sheriff Says He Won’t Enforce New Immigration Law

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik calls Senate Bill 1070 a "stupid law" that will force officers to start profiling

abc15.com
PHOENIX -- An Arizona sheriff is the latest person to speak out about the state's new immigration legislation, saying he does not plan to enforce the divisive law.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik calls Senate Bill 1070 a "stupid law" that will force officers to start profiling. He is one of the first local law enforcement officials to rebel against the law.

"We don't need to enforce it. It would be irresponsible in my opinion to put people in the Pima County Jail at the taxpayers expense when i can give them to the Border Patrol," Dupnik said.

The Sheriff admits he could get sued for failing to obey the law, but says that's a risk he's willing to take. The controversial bill was signed into law by Gov. Jan Brewer last Friday.

Since last week, local and national figures have spoken out about SB 1070, which requires police to question people about their immigration status -- including asking for identification -- if they suspect someone is in the country illegally.

The law also toughens restrictions on hiring illegal immigrants for day labor and knowingly transporting them.

"Education should always be the first priority," said junior Amber Diaz. Their goal was to participate in a statewide effort to voice their concerns and frustration over what they said was Gov. Chris Christie's assault on public education.

By 9 a.m. in Engelwood, a few hundred students, all of whom school officials said will face Saturday detention for cutting class, poured out of the school.

But the evening vote was just part of a legislative ballet keeping bipartisan talks alive. At the end, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid switched his vote to "no," too, but that was just a maneuver that will enable him to call for a new tally as early as Tuesday.

Rasmussen: 60% Believe Health Care Law Will Increase Deficit, 58% Favor Repeal

I thought Obama said it was deficit neutral? What, they don't believe him?

rasmussenreports
Support for repeal of the recently-passed national health care plan remains strong as most voters believe the law will increase the cost of care, hurt quality and push the federal budget deficit even higher.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 58% of likely voters nationwide favor repeal, while 38% are opposed. Those figures are little changed from a week ago and include 47% who Strongly Favor repeal. Twenty-nine percent (29%) Strongly Oppose the repeal effort.

Support for repeal is proving to be just as consistent as opposition to the plan before it was passed into law. Over the past five weeks since Congress passed the measure, support for repeal has remained in a very narrow range from a low of 54% to a high of 58%.

Sixty percent (60%) of voters nationwide believe the new law will increase the federal budget deficit, while just 19% say it will reduce the deficit.

He Starts Thinking About 2010: Obama Calls on Democrats To Focus on Mid-Term Elections

This was posted tonight on the Organizing for America youtube page....

Obama: "It will be up to each of you to make sure that the young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again"

cnn.com
Obama emphasizes that the key to victory for Democrats in November will be convincing the people who helped fuel his 2008 White House bid - first-time voters - to head to the polls for the second time in two years even though he is not on the ballot.

"It will be up to each of you to make sure that the young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again," Obama says in the video that was sent to the 13 million people on his Organizing for America's email list. OFA was the Obama presidential campaign organization that is now housed at the Democratic National Committee.

Democratic candidates head into the midterm elections saddled with a struggling economy, a national unemployment rate near double digits, home foreclosures and a nation split over the recently enacted health care reform law. All of this has contributed to voter antipathy toward incumbent politicians and has prompted predictions that Republicans will pick up seats in the House and Senate.

"But despite everything we've done, our work isn't finished," "Today, the health insurance companies, the Wall Street banks, and the special interests who have ruled Washington for too long are already focused on November's congressional elections.

"They see these elections as a chance to put their allies back in power, and undo all that we have accomplished. So this year, I need your help once more."

CNN: Could Right Wing Rants Lead to Violence?

Joan Walsh: "There is a climate of violence on the right"

freedomslighthouse
CNN's "Reliable Sources" has a panel to debate whether "Right-wing media" and talk radio 'could lead to violence.' Joan Walsh said, "Right now there is a climate of violence on the Right." She went on to accuse Rush Limbaugh of "demonizing liberals in the most personal way."

When Amy Holmes pointed out that Eric Cantor has received death threats from liberals, Joan Walsh interrupted and dismissed that case as being from a "nut." So I guess in her mind when liberals threaten violence they are just "nuts," but if it's from the other side it is somehow Rush Limbaugh and talk radio's fault.

Andrew Sullivan: Fox News And “Nutcases” Like Beck, Limbaugh Are “Controlling” GOP

Sullivan: The Republican Party is Fox News

mediaite
Sullivan: "I’m tired of this notion, I have to say, that someone like Beck and Limbaugh can be excused because they are entertainers. As if that is an excuse for saying, substantively that they’re saying, and for controlling the Republican party.

Look, who in the Republican party have actually pushed back against Beck or Limbaugh or these other nutcases? That’s the truth, and because there’s no resistance in the Republican party, the Republican Party is Fox News. That’s the head of the Republican party.

Sheriff Arpaio on Obama: "I Don't Even Know Why He's Interfering With The People of Arizona"

Arpaio: "For all those critics out there, I'm coming back next week in the city of Phoenix with my posse, and my deputy sheriffs to do another crime suppression operation"

Sheriff Arpaio asserts that, as always, he and his deputies only stop people in the normal course of their duties – if they don’t have a license, doesn’t speak English, or have guys stashed in the back of a van. He makes his strongest point when he says that the Obama administration has been investigating him for well over a year and they’ve found no wrong doing.

But none of this is good enough for Geraldo, as he jabs back at Arpaio by suggesting to Congressman Balart of Florida that if he were in Phoenix, Sheriff Arpaio would likely stop him because he looks latino interfering

Protestors and supporters turned out in the Tower District where 60's anti-war protestor William Ayers spoke Thursday night.

Back in the 70's, Ayers reportedly bombed the Capitol, the Pentagon and other buildings. Now a college professor, Ayers came to Fresno to speak at a Fresno Church in the Tower District.

The controversial political activist spoke to a crowd of more than a hundred people at the First Congregation Church on Van Ness. They came to hear about his role as an anti-war protestor in the 60’s as part of the weather underground.

William Ayers said, “I am no more a person of the 60’s than I am a person of the 40’s or a person of today. We were not terrorist organization and that is because we never threatened to kill people, we never killed people -- we did destroy property and answered for those things.”

The Weather Underground was linked to the bombings of government buildings in the 60’s. Because of that, his talk in Fresno was moved from a state office building downtown to the church.

Chuck Schumer Slams Obama Policy Toward Israel, Says it "Has to Stop" - Audio

Also slams Hillary Clinton for calling Netanyahu and making it public...

freedomslighthouse
Sen. Chuck Schumer talking to a Jewish radio show - the Nachum Segal Show- where he blasted the Obama Administration's policy toward Israel as "counter-productive," and said it "had to stop."

Schumer said the "kerfuffle" during Biden's visit to Israel over Israeli construction in East Jerusalem "should never have been an issue to begin with" because it was in Israeli territory and only 5 minutes from downtown Jerusalem.

While Schumer said Israel should not have made the announcement while Biden was in Israel, he said Israel apologized for that and that should have been the end of it.
