President Barack Obama received Thursday the first of a series of reports on administration failures leading to the Christmas Day bombing attempt.

It came as more details surfaced about intelligence missteps and a top Republican called for the president to fire those responsible.

The preliminary report to Obama about intelligence failures in the attempted terror bombing was not a pleasant way for the commander-in-chief to usher in the New Year.

"It's not just that mistakes were made but mistakes were made at every step along the way and I believe it's because this administration has set a tone that the war against terrorism is somehow not that important," said Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island.

Congressman King, the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, said the president must punish those responsible for the failures."Definitely heads should roll, not just as retribution against those people, but to send a signal from this president that he is serious, that this is the number one priority," Rep. King said.

"It would now be absolute insanity for us to be sending Guantanamo detainees, the hardest of the hard core terrorists, to Yemen," Rep. King said. "It would be criminal negligence."
Just about everyone agrees that the first one to go should be Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano
