WASHINGTON (CNN)– Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who came under fire from some conservatives for endorsing Dede Scozzafava in next week's special Congressional election in New York, is now backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.
Gingrich made the announcement via Twitter shortly after the Republican Party nominee Scozzafava announced she was releasing supporters from their commitment to back her.

"Scozzafava dropping out leaves hoffman as only anti-tax anti-pelosi vote in ny 23 Every voter opposed to tax increases support doug hoffman," Gingrich wrote on Twitter. (Tweet shown as it appeared) Polling showed that Scozzafava was running third in this special election for what had been a traditionally safe Republican seat.

But a split among Republicans over who to support, Scozzafava or the more conservative Hoffman, opened the door for Democratic nominee Bill Owens to capture the seat.
National Republican Party officials, who had also endorsed Scozzafava, are now lining up behind Hoffman.

This is good news, we must not forget however, how dug-in Newt remained on Scozzafava until this morning...

"In recent days, polls have indicated that my chances of winning this election are not as strong as we would like them to be. A swine flu vaccine mix-up has sparked outrage and concern. Two children were given the vaccine without their parent's consent. One mother said her daughter ended up in the emergency room after getting sick. It's a major mistake that could've cost one little girl her life. It will be a long weekend for 6-year-old Nikiyah Torres as a result of an H1N1 vaccination she received Thursday morning at PS 335 in Brooklyn.

"He just gave me the needle, without asking me what is my name," Nikiyah told CBS 2 HD. Without her mother's consent. "I'm outraged. What parent wouldn't be?" mother Naomi Troy said. New York City health officials said another student at PS 65 on Staten Island was also given the vaccine without parental permission.

Nikiyah's mother said she's furious over the mistake and not just because of her general objection to the H1N1 vaccine, but also out of concern over how it will interact with medication Nikiyah takes for epilepsy. "I don't understand how you make a mistake like that," Troy said. Troy said when she arrived at PS 335 on Thursday morning the school nurse actually asked her to sign a consent form for the vaccine -- even though he had already given it to her daughter. "He knew he was in big trouble and he wanted to cover himself," Troy said.

After complaining about a stomachache and nausea, Nikiyah was transported to the emergency room and later released. The school's incident report states: "Student sent down to medical room in error by teacher. I, Warren Carter, a public health nurse at PS 335 in Brooklyn, N.Y. administered an H1N1 influenza vaccine in deltoid in error."

The Biden event comes the day before the special election, which has turned into a two-way contest between Owens and a third-party Conservative challenger, Doug Hoffman, who has captured the momentum in the race in the last several days.It’s the second time Biden has campaigned for Owens – he went up to Syracuse in September to fundraise for him. And Obama headlined a New York City fundraiser for Owens last week.For Owens to win, he needs to gin up the Democratic base in the upstate New York district to show up at the polls -- voters who don’t normally turn out for off-year elections.

In advance of tomorrows stimulus announcement by the Obama Administration, the CBS Evening News aired a report tonight on the dubious jobs claims already made by the White House. The piece cites an Associated Press analysis that the Administration has overstated by thousands the number of jobs created or saved. One fiscal watchdog adds that at worst, these numbers are next to useless. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) notes that there is no factual basis for the White Houses claims.

Corzine outspending Christie nearly 3-1, most of it from his own fortune
Gov. Jon Corzine has raised $24.1 million and spent $23.6 million on the general election campaign so far, according to 11-day pre-election reports filed with the Election Law Enforcement Commission. Of Corzine's total raised, $22.6 million is from his own pocket.

Republican gubernatorial Christopher Christie has maxed out on matching funds, raising a total of $11.7 million and spending $8.8 million, while independent Christopher Daggett has raised $1.3 million and spent $1.2 million.

Christie has the most cash on hand, at $3.6 million. That sum will not grow, however, since Christie is bound by a cap on campaign funds that Corzine, who does not participate in the public financing program, is not. Daggett has $292,495 on hand and Corzine has $412,410.

Corzine with an endless supply of cash is running ad's on Christie saying the Government is babysitting children..If this is all Corzine had got, there must not be much to target on Chris Christie...

Even as some Americans await the arrival of their swine flu vaccines, the Pentagon has decided to vaccinate both soldiers and terror suspects at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.There was no word Wednesday on when the the first vaccines would reach the remote base in southeast Cuba.

But U.S. military there were notified late last week that service members would get their H1N1 virus vaccinations first. Private contractors and sailors' wives and children could get theirs afterward ``as the supply permits.''And that means the 221 war on terror captives would also be vaccinated first, said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Brook DeWalt, a Guantánamo spokesman.

"They get all the same quality medical care and treatment options that are provided to service members,'' he said by telephone. "But they don't have to wait for appointments.'

'Each detainee would be given the vaccine on a voluntary basis, just like "with our seasonal flu vaccination program,'' said Army Maj. Diana R. Haynie, a prison camps public affairs officer.Guantánamo senior staff also had no plans to address the overarching question of whether a vaccine named colloquially for a pig would present particular challenges.

Instead, Haynie said, a detainee could raise any concerns when he is offered it in person.Haynie added that the detention center's Muslim American `"cultural affairs advisor'' said "there is no religious reason for detainees not to receive the H1N1 vaccine.''

All of these overseas contingency operators are going to see how well we treat them and they will no longer engage in man caused disasters...

Obama Visits Dover To Salute Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

Media is calling this symbolic...I agree..

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. – Standing in the pre-dawn darkness, President Barack Obama saw the real cost of the war in Afghanistan: The Americans who return in flag-covered cases while much of the nation sleeps in peace.
In a midnight dash to this Delaware base, where U.S. forces killed overseas come home, Obama honored the return of 18 fallen Americans Thursday. All were killed in Afghanistan this week, a brutal stretch that turned October into the most deadly month for U.S. troops since the war began.

The dramatic image of a president on the tarmac was a portrait not witnessed in years. Former President George W. Bush spent lots of time with grieving military families but never went to Dover to meet the remains coming off the cargo plane. Obama did so with the weight of knowing he may soon send more troops off to war.

McCain says O.K. lets do 10 town hall style debates, Obama declined, media yawned....

This evening, two of the three candidates for New York's 23rd congressional district House seat took part in a public forum in Plattsburgh, hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh's Chapter of United University Professions and its Student Association, and by the League of Women Voters of the Plattsburgh Area. The Democratic and Republican candidates, Bill Owens and Dede Scozzafava, participated. Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman declined. NCPR's Brian Mann and Lindsey Lyons, president of the Student Association were co-moderators.

In the final days of the gubernatorial campaign, Robert McDonnell holds an 18‐point margin over his Democratic opponent, Creigh Deeds among likely voters1 in Virginia; 54% of likely voters support or lean to McDonnell, 36% support or lean to Deeds. A 56% majority of independents say they will vote for or lean to McDonnell while 29% of independents say they will vote for or lean to Deeds.

The realclearpolitics average is McDonnell +13.4

If Obama had these numbers he would have built that victory stage in Grant Park even sooner...

Here's one interesting fact, Creigh Deeds has not led in one single solitary poll since the beginning of June...

Obama Signs Hate Crimes Legislation Tucked Into The Defense Bill

It would be pretty hard to vote against a Defense Bill wouldn't it?

Just amazing, you would think after watching this signing ceremony that Matthew Shepard's killers are freely walking around the streets and there was no consequence for what they did...

However, Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson (the 2 involved in killing Shepard) are serving two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole....

This law champions the leftist value of partisan tolerance. Medved pointed out on his radio show that the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Bill is named after a 21-year-old killed by two young men because of his homosexuality. Both were convicted of the murder and were awaiting a possible death sentence before Shepard's parents brokered a deal for a term of two life sentences. In other words, the so-called Hate Crimes Bill would have done nothing if it had been law during the murder of Shepard eleven years ago.

Putting this point aside, I fear the consequences of this law will be the stifling of religious expression. How? Through the -- um -- back door. For example: Some crazy dude is listening to a sermon on Christian radio and the Pastor says it is a sin to live a homosexual lifestyle. This crazy murders a homosexual and tells a court he was influenced by so-and-so on Christian radio. Under the Hate Crimes Bill this so-and-so will understand the Utopian consequences of the liberal/progressive partisan tolerance which is at the heart of Obama's Hate Crimes Bill.

CBS's Chip Reid Questions Robert Gibbs On Donor Access To The White House

Chip Reid, no fan of this Administration...

Reid: The RNC is calling for the White House to release the names of donors who have gotten special access to White House advisers and perks like the bowling alley. Will you release those names?

Gibbs: Every name of every person who comes to this White House will be released I think soon they’ll be some look-back list that will be released. But again Chip, this is something again that for the first time in any administration at any point in our history we’ve undertaken releasing publicly those names.

Gibbs: The Republican National Committee, there’s two political parties, two major political parties in this country. One party doesn’t accept contributions from registered federal lobbyists. That same party doesn’t accept contributions from political action committees. It’s not the committee with which you just asked me the question on.

Reid: Are you saying the White House will release the names of any donors who come in and then say did they meet with particular White House advisers as in exchange for those contributions?

Gibbs: Through an agreement that we announced in August the names of the people who come to the White House will be released. And any contributors names is released as per the fed forms on the FEC.

Reid: Will it simply be a name on a list? Or will we know if they came here to meet with a senior White House official in exchange for a contribution?

Gibbs: Chip, as we did this briefing in August I’ll remind you that the ()_ records will denote who that person is, when they came, how long they were here, and who they met with. Again a standard not met by any other previously White House.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger typically attaches a message to bills he signs or vetoes telling lawmakers why he took the action.

A Democratic assemblyman who heckled the governor during a recent event in San Francisco actually received two messages: the veto letter itself and a not-so-subtle rebuke creatively hidden within it.

Like a find-the-word puzzle, the second message was visible by stringing together the first letter of each line down the left-hand margin. It consisted of a common four-letter vulgarity followed by the letters "y-o-u."

"My goodness. What a coincidence," said Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear. "I suppose when you do so many vetoes, something like this is bound to happen."

Schwarzenegger's veto messages are sent to the lawmakers who authored the bills, and posted on the governor's Web site. McLear noted that the left-hand margin of past veto messages has spelled out words such as "poet" and "soap."

During his first nine months in office, President Obama has quietly rewarded scores of top Democratic donors with VIP access to the White House, private briefings with administration advisers and invitations to important speeches and town-hall meetings.

High-dollar fundraisers have been promised access to senior White House officials in exchange for pledges to donate $30,400 personally or to bundle $300,000 in contributions ahead of the 2010 midterm elections, according to internal Democratic National Committee documents obtained by The Washington Times.

One top donor described in an interview with The Times being given a birthday visit to the Oval Office. Another was allowed use of a White House-complex bowling alley for his family.

Bundlers closest to the president were invited to watch a movie in the red-walled theater in the basement of the presidential mansion.Mr. Obama invited his top New York bundler, UBS Americas CEO Robert Wolf, to golf with him during the president's Martha's Vineyard vacation in August. At least 39 donors and fundraisers also were treated to a lavish White House reception on St. Patrick's Day...
