NADA Warns Dealers To Avoid Cash For Clunkers Deals This Weekend, Schumer Calls For Another $4 Billion For The Program

Clunker Mania...NADA advises members to avoid Cash for Clunkers Deals This Weekend

wcbstv.com
The rebates aimed at getting gas guzzlers off the road have proven so successful, the $1 billion set aside to pay for them is drying up. But Congress is set to earmark more money for the program.

Senator Charles Schumer, one of the original sponsors of the bill, said the program ran out of money because skinflints in the Senate wouldn't give him the $4 billion he wanted for the program, which gives people up to $4,500 toward buying fuel efficient cars to replace their old gas guzzlers. "This week's evidence shows that people who said the program wouldn't work, who said that the program was the wrong thing to do, are very wrong themselves," Schumer said.

And even the $2 billion extra voted by the House isn't enough said Schumer, who wants at least $4 billion. "'Cash for Clunkers' is helping jump start our weak economy," Schumer said.

NADA Warns Dealers "No more clunker deals until the program is clearer"

money.cnn.com
Despite the Obama administration's promises that any Clunker deals written this weekend would be honored, the National Automobile Dealers Association is advising its members to play it safe and not close any more deals until the program's fate is clearer.
"Regarding auto sales this weekend, one possible alternative is for dealers to take deposits in lieu of consummated sales with an eye toward legislative success next week," NADA spokesman Charles Cyrill wrote in an e-mail.

White House Blog Photos Show Sgt. Crowley Helping Gates Down Steps Not Obama

Picture is worth a thousand words...

Photos released on the whitehouse.gov blog, shows Sgt. Crowley helping Professor Gates down the steps of the White House...(White House Photographer Pete Souza)

Sergeant Crowley, the sole class act in this trio, helps the handicapped Professor Gates down the stairs, while Barack Obama, heedless of the infirmities of his friend and fellow victim of self-defined racial profiling, strides ahead on his own. So who is compassionate? And who is so self-involved and arrogant that he is oblivious?

From the americanthinker
In my own dealings with the wealthy and powerful, I have always found that the way to quickly capture the moral essence of a person is to watch how they treat those who are less powerful. Do they understand that the others are also human beings with feelings? Especially when they think nobody is looking.

Friday Funnies...Obama: Economy Back From The Brink, Credits The Stimulus

This earlier from Steny Hoyer, blaming Bush, it's clear what the talking points are...
"There are clear signs that our economy is beginning to recover from the recession inherited from the Bush Administration"

"Economy has done measurably better"
Directly attributable to the Recovery Act

One problem Barry, the economic numbers aren't good, and the money isn't coming out of the economic porkulus...
Amount paid out of the stimulus from Recovery.gov
Less than 10% of the $787 Billion

If less than 10% brought the economy back from the brink, please return the 90% back to the taxpayers...
Job losses under Obama...

And another $2 Billion in from the Stimulus is going out, the House approved another $2 Billion for the cash for clunkers program today...

GDP Shrinks At -1%, Media Eager To Spin As Good Economic News, Flashback: Obama Blasted Bush For Same GDP Numbers

This from the Associated Press
"Recession eases GDP dip "smaller than expected"

This from CBSnews
"Less than feared"

WASHINGTON (AP) - The economy sank at a pace of just 1 percent in the second quarter of the year, a new government report shows. It was a better-than-expected showing that provided the strongest signal yet that the longest recession since World War II is finally winding down. The dip in gross domestic product for the April-to-June period, reported by the Commerce Department on Friday, comes after the economy was in a free fall, tumbling at an annual rate of 6.4 percent in the first three months of this year....

Flashback October 30, 2008 Sarasota Florida, the economy went into negative for the first time in 2008(same numbers as today), and candidate Obama fired back at Bush: "OUR FAILING GDP IS A DIRECT RESULT OF A FAILIED ECONOMIC THEORY...THAT HAVE DRIVEN OUR ECONOMY INTO A DITCH"

Police Note In Unearthed Speeding Ticket From 25 Years Ago That Henry Louis Gates Had "Poor Attitude"

Actual photo of police report from 1984
'Think we may have a pattern here?

whdh.com
CRANSTON, R.I. -- "Attitude poor" was the note that a Rhode Island state trooper included in a 1984 speeding ticket issued to then Yale professor Henry Louis Gates.

Records do lack a description of the words exchanged during the stop. The decades-old incident occurred on I-95 in Richmond, a town south of Providence.

Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal Magistrate William Guglietta said it is not unusual.
"We get these all the time," said Guglietta. Gates contacted the Rhode Island Traffic Court in 2002, asking to settle the fine. The case was dismissed after he paid a court cost of $25

Harry Reid: "Don't Cry Great Tears About The Insurance Industry"

"There's no business in America that makes more money"

They make lots of money like I did in the land deal...

cnsnews.com
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday said the American public should not cry over how health care reform might affect the health insurance industry.“I don’t think we should be crying great big tears about the insurance industry,” Reid said at a Capitol Hill press conference when asked whether insurance companies should be allowed to charge higher premiums for people with preexisting conditions.

“There is no business in America that makes more money than the insurance industry--over the last 10 years their profits have been increased by 450 percent,” Reid said. “So I’m not really in very much of a mood to worry about the insurance industry.”The health insurance industry is so wealthy, said Reid, because unlike every other industry professional baseball, it is exempt from anti-trust laws.

U.S. Brewers Upset Over Beer Summit Selections (Foreign Owned)

The photo-op summit designed to help Obama's slumping poll numbers is scheduled to begin at 6:00p.m. at the White House

All of tonight's selections are foreign owned.. (Bud being recently bought out)
Remember Obama is against those companies that ship jobs overseas...

Foxnews has the report...
(Sgt. Crowley will bring his lawyer BTW)

President Barack Obama is hoping his "beer summit" Thursday with Cambridge, Mass., police Sgt. James Crowley and Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. will resolve a racially charged dispute that has drawn attention away from his drive to overhaul health care. Obama is trying to defuse the political fallout from his comment at a news conference that police had "acted stupidly" in arresting Gates at his home after responding to a call about a possible break-in.

Gates, was arrested by Crowley, after Crowley accused him of disorderly conduct for protesting the policeman's actions. Obama invited both men to the White House for beer, to be served at a picnic table near his Oval Office if weather permits.

Rasmussen: New Low For Obama On Approval Index, Approval Rating

Getting close to the approval numbers of Bill Clinton's first 6 months....

Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That is the lowest level of total approval yet recorded for this President. Fifty-one percent (51%) now disapprove. A plurality of voters now believe the President views American society as unfair and discriminatory.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 28% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12.

New DNC Ad On The Economy Brings Up Bush, Again

'Think it was some accident that Obama was bashing the previous administration yesterday in Raleigh? Think again...

Nothing is an accident with these people, the DNC and the White House see their falling poll numbers from their disastrous health care plan and the terrible week that followed after the Gates arrest so it looks like they are going back to campaign mode, and what got them elected, going after Bush and the economy.

How many times did we hear during the Bush presidency that "it happened on his watch?" Today, Obama knows that his willing accomplices in the press will provide cover for him.

This is an Alisky tactic to divert attention, the Chicago way, they need a villain, today they chose George Bush...

Democrats Warn GOP of Backlash For Opposing Sotomayor

Really? Did the Dems pay a price for opposing Miguel Estrada?

Here's why I just can't stand the left...

Associated Press
WASHINGTON – The Senate debate over Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor turned bitter Wednesday, after Democrats warned the GOP it would pay a steep price for opposing the judge who would be the first Hispanic justice, and a top Republican charged they were playing destructive racial politics.

Majority Leader Harry Reid implored Republicans Wednesday to join Democrats in voting to confirm Sotomayor next week, warning that GOP opposition would bring the same sort of public backlash that followed the party's spirited opposition to measures that would have given some illegal immigrants a chance to gain legal status.

"I just think that their voting against this good woman is going to treat them about the same way that they got treated as a result of their votes on immigration," said Reid, D-Nev.

Obama's Personal Doctor In Chicago: Health Care Reform Is "Bound For Failure"

I can't see how it's going to work, "piecemeal" "ineffectual"

Obama doctor David Schneider
Says Obama Health Care plan has no cost control, and will be really expensive...

Interview with the Lib huffingtonpost
The man Barack Obama consulted on medical matters for over two decades said on Tuesday that the president's vision for health care reform is bound for failure.
Dr. David Scheiner, a 70-year Chicago-based physician who treated Obama for more than 20 years, said he was disheartened by the health care legislation his former patient is championing, calling it piecemeal and ineffectual.

"I look at his program and I can't see how it's going to work," Scheiner told the Huffington Post. "He has no cost control. There would be no effective cost control in his program. The [Congressional Budget Office] said it's going be incredibly expensive ... and the thing that I really am worried about is, if it is the failure that I think it would be, then health reform will be set back a long, long time."

Scheiner was hesitant about trying to divine the president's motives, although he said he believed that "in his heart of hearts" Obama "may well like a single-payer program. But his pragmatism is what is overwhelming him." Scheiner added: "I think he's afraid that he can't get anything through if he doesn't go through this incredibly compromised program."

Hillary Clinton Camp Is Election-Ready, Still Has 8 Person Political Team

Nydaily News online poll on Hillary's Presidential ambitions, not even close

{click to enlarge}
I wouldn't doubt if Hillary secretly hopes Health Care Reform goes down in flames so this President will get politically wounded...

nydailynews.com

Hillary Clinton says running for office isn't on her "radar," but she still has an eight-person political team and sports two overflowing campaign war chests.
Her team transformed the former Democratic White House contender's massive campaign debts into a $3 million mountain of political cash, according to federal fund-raising records through the end of June.

Clinton's failed presidential bid is now $1 million in the black, and her old Senate campaign committee has $2.1 million in the bank, much of it transferred in from the presidential account.
The former First Lady paid eight staffers nearly $100,000 in the second quarter of the year to tend to the remains of her political empire.
She officially pulled out of the political arena in January when she became secretary of state. But Clinton's campaign Web site continues to accept contributions.

Colin Powell On Larry King Admits He "Was Not Entirely Colorblind" When Voting For Obama

Looks like Rush was right, Powell was not colorblind when voting for Obama, After Obama won on election night Powell said "my God we did it"

"I didn't endorse him because he was black, I thought it was something to take into consideration...I spoke at length with John McCain, and I watch Mr. Obama with his campaign, and at the end, I cannot say I was totally colorblind, but at the end I convinced myself based on the facts I sought, that he was the better choice at this time in our nations history"

Colin Powell obviously hangs on every word Rush says about him

Says Mr. Limbaugh (pronounced Limboww)is free to criticize him all he wants...

Here's Rush in his interview with Sean Hannity blasting Colin Powell for saying Republicans need to moderate and go to the center, even though the Republicans nominated John McCain. Was Colin Powell unaware of the nominee last election?

Still Colin Powell has not said he will won't endorse Obama in the next election, and this guy calls himself a Republican?

Left Wing Blog Talkingpointsmemo Calls People Who Oppose Obama "Haters"

I wonder if he's ever heard of MSNBC?

When the left starts losing the argument they fall back on race...

Attacks Rush, Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck
The left doesn't want to debate the opposition, they want to silence them...

This from the Lib talkingpointsmemo
"An interesting pattern has emerged in the last few weeks, as President Obama's ratings have started to come down to Earth: You can really see a type of Obama-hatred out there that really does cross over into a purely racial territory."

"Above all others, the real celebrity here has been Rush Limbaugh. He's done this kind of thing before -- remember the "Barack, The Magic Negro" song? But in the wake of the Gates incident, he's managed to become even more hard-edged about it. "Here you have a black president trying to destroy a white policeman," Limbaugh declared this past Friday. Yesterday, he shared a dream he's had about the dangers to capitalism: "I had a dream that I was a slave building a sphinx in a desert that looked like Obama." And he joked that food-safety advocates will go after all the unhealthy foods people like to eat, one by one -- but they'll have to wait until Obama is out of office to ban Oreos."

Colin Powell Responds To The Gates Arrest and Says He's Been Racially Profiled

Colin Powell interview on Larry King
I've combined the clips, there was an interview between them...

King: "Have you ever been racially profiled?"
Powell: "Yes many times"
King: "Did you ever bring anger to it?"
Powell: "Sure I got mad, I got mad when I was National Security Advisor for the President of the United States and I went down to meet someone at Reagan National Airport and nobody recognized, nobody thought I could possibly be National Security to the President, I was just a black guy at Reagan National airport, it was only when I went up to the counter and said is my guest here who's waiting for me, did somebody say, oh you're General Powell, it was inconceivable to him that a black guy could be the National Security Advisor"
(By the way, in the late 80's it was Washington National Airport before being renamed Reagan National in 1998)

My take on this:
What stands out to me is that Larry King asks Colin Powell is he's ever been racially profiled, and Colin Powell responds to an incident from more than 20 years ago at Reagan National Airport, he was National Security Advisor under President Reagan from 1987-1989, the only example of racial profiling that comes to his mind is more that 2 decades ago?
By the way, it was a Republican Presidents that brought Powell from obscurity to where he is today..

On Gates arrest, did anyone notice he calls him "Skip?" He says Gates should have went outside and not escalated the incident but that there was a verbal altercation between the 2 of them..However, listening to the 911 tapes, Sgt Crowely remained professional throughout the incident and called for backup..

NY Attorney General Cuomo Sends Out Letter To Retailers To Halt The Sale Of Toy Guns

Not even toy guns are safe from lawmakers...

wcbstv.com
Hundreds of New York stores aren't complying with state rules banning the sale of any toy guns that could be confused with the real thing. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday that his office has sent letters to more than 100 retailers ordering them to halt sales of look-a-likes that violate the ban.

State law requires toy guns to be made from materials that couldn't possibly be confused with an actual weapon, or carry colorful markings including a big orange stripe.Inspectors with Cuomo's office say they found plenty of toys on sale that didn't follow those rules.

Some of the stores that got letters included Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Big Lots and Gander Mountain. None of the stores returned calls seeking comment. Cuomo was elected to the position of Attorney General in November of 2006.-WCBSTV

Global Warming Hoax: More Than 1000 Record Low Temperatures Have Been Broken In July

This might cut into this fraud's profits...

newsmax.com
Global warming may be taking another black eye as AccuWeather.com reports an unusually cold July, which is most pronounced in the Northeast of the United States.

While it has been unusually hot in the Southwest, AccuWeather reports that 1,044 daily record low temperatures have been broken thus far in the month of July
, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NCDC).
NCDC has also recorded "low highs" for the month as well, and when that figure is added to the mix, the number of record-breakers increases to 2,925slated to pass 3,000 before the end of the month.

The period of July 17-20 was the worst, according to AccuWeather’s gleaning of the NCDC records -- with over 1,600 weather stations scattered across the country breaking records.
Buffalo, Albany, Boston, Chicago and Cincinnati have all logged 0 days in July above 85. Detroit, Pittsburg, and New York have logged only 1 each.

Earlier this month, Global Warming Fraud Al Gore compared fighting Global Warming to fighting the Nazi's
